Yoruba\u00a0<\/b>nation\u00a0activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has said that he has not been soliciting financial supports from individuals or groups to\u00a0assist\u00a0him in the two court\u00a0cases\u00a0involving him and his\u00a0aides\u00a0in Nigeria.<\/b><\/p>\n
The two court\u00a0cases\u00a0are the ones before an Oyo State High Court, sitting in Ibadan, and Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja.<\/p>\n
Igboho last week Wednesday secured an injunction before Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court against the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Attorney-General of the Federation\/Minister of Justice not to arrest, intimidate, molest and freeze his\u00a0bank\u00a0account.<\/p>\n
The case before the Federal High Court in Abuja involved 12 of his\u00a0aides\u00a0that were arrested on July 1, this year, when the DSS in collaboration with other security\u00a0agencies\u00a0stormed his home. The 12 persons were taken to court for the first time last week Wednesday since their arrest and were granted\u00a0bail\u00a0by Justice Obiora Egwuatu. The first, third, fourth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh persons were admitted to\u00a0bail\u00a0in the sum of N5 million each with two sureties who must be residents of the Federal\u00a0Capital\u00a0Territory. The remaining were also granted N10 million\u00a0bail\u00a0with two sureties who must also be residents of Abuja.<\/p>\n
Igboho, who made this disclosure in a statement issued\u00a0yesterday\u00a0in Ibadan through his counsel, Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN), distanced himself from groups, soliciting financial supports to perfect the\u00a0bail\u00a0of his associates in Abuja.<\/p>\n
According to him, the various groups and individuals that have nothing to do with the case have been laying claims to sponsoring the suits in Ibadan and Abuja.<\/p>\n
He stated further that the groups have also been criticising decisions of the Federal High Court on the\u00a0bail\u00a0conditions, saying those criticising the court do not really understand the law because\u00a0bail\u00a0is\u00a0free.<\/p>\n
The statement read in part: \u201cWe want to be quick to say that as at today no group and\/or individual has contributed a kobo to the two\u00a0cases\u00a0going on in Nigeria to wit, his\u00a0aides\u00a0case in Abuja and the Ibadan matter. Various peanuts offered by some very loud groups have been turned down by me on my client\u2019s instructions.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has been carrying his cross\u00a0alone\u00a0with no assistance from home or abroad! People should be brave to challenge any individual and\/or group asking them for money on\u00a0bail\u00a0on his behalf or those of his\u00a0aides.\u201d<\/p>\n
