It is my pleasure to be with you here . In my usual way, I am here to steal some opportunities from your contributions.<\/p>\n
Breaking New Frontiers in 2022 is the focus of this discussion as organised by AlimoshoTv.<\/p>\n
Please whatever view is shared here can’t be generalised; so pick what can work for you and do away with others.<\/p>\n
To break new grounds, you must be BOLD (B), STRONG (S) and COURAGEOUS (C). That is the actual ‘BSC’ you need to excel:<\/p>\n
You can’t break new frontiers except you escape from the prison of the mind. Except you free yourself from the religious and cultural slavery that is holding you down. Because, not doing so is simply a moral hazard.<\/p>\n
To break new grounds, we need to explore, and to explore, you need some level of freedom. The freedom the whites enjoy overtime is pivotal to their various explorations, as they invented and still inventing all kind of things by not conforming to norms (usual ways of doing things).<\/p>\n
THE PROVOKING REALITY:<\/p>\n
Bitter, but the truth; note that you are indeed a flight about to take off but your religion, culture and other myths are sitting on your wings and they are too heavy for the flight to move, hence you can’t fly until you pull them off.<\/p>\n
Why? Because they are the ones restricting you in any attempt to explore a new ground; they are caging your freedom to certain attempts in breaking new grounds. Most of these beliefs (cultures) were designed to suit situations at a particular time, and that was what was needed, but not reviewed over time to suit changes thus; seeing attempts at new grounds as taboos, sins or immoralities.<\/p>\n
See a practical example:<\/p>\n
When we were very young, sometimes, we would contribute money to buy leather balls. We would gather ourselves and go to a nearby school premises or open spaces to play. And whenever we got back home after the game, our parents or guardians would beat us like criminals and subject us to various degrees of punishment. They were doing this due to our culture and certain beliefs that no good child goes out to play football.<\/p>\n
This attempt alone has killed future of some us who would have been in the sporting world today with records of success. The beating (punishment) has discouraged so many who would have grown their talents in footballing field – but – those deprivations affected so many till date who, as I speak, can’t find their feets to survive.<\/p>\n
But today, many parents want their children to become a footballer like Messi, Ronaldo and the rest of them. Meanwhile, that same football was already being prioritised in the western world as at the time most of our parents and guardians here were depriving their wards of it.<\/p>\n
It took the boldness and courage in very few who despite the deprivations – and – being tagged as irresponsible children to endure, and determined to train and succeed today.<\/p>\n
The likes of Okocha, Martins, Babayaro and many others were once seen as bad children but today, they are celebrated as role models.<\/p>\n
That is one of the many limitations and restrictions our ‘perception of morals and culture’ has done to us by not allowing us to explore things.<\/p>\n
Another very good example is the idea of Music and Entertainment. If you dare associate with musicians back then, or you demonstrate a sign of interest in it, you would be quickly tagged a bad child, yet, our parents listened to it (music).<\/p>\n
The successful musicians then, and those of today did actually take great risk. Some of them were rejected, criticised for choosing what they enjoy doing. The new trend in entertainment industry and the fortunes that comes with it must have started a long time if there were no cultural limitations or beliefs, and we would have produced several talents with so many of them counting their successes today. All these would have played a major role in the position of our national economy now. But thank God, things are fast changing.<\/p>\n
That is another pointer to how cultural and moral perception has denied us many explorations.<\/p>\n
As a result of the aforementioned, our minds are being programmed to the extent that, when we see few who have defied the archaic norms , we would rush to condemn them as bad persons.<\/p>\n
When we were made to understand that, it is only a bad child that stay outside in the night or go clubbing, this is purely fallacy.<\/p>\n
It will interest you that, most of the present successful business people today, conclude the real businesses and deals at clubs, bars and hangouts.<\/p>\n
It is only that, the outcome of their discussions in those places would later be formalised in the office with proposal(s). Infact, about 10 people can submit proposals, but mostly those concluded outside the office would be prioritised (in some cases, if not most).<\/p>\n
My agency won an account (bidding) of the 2nd biggest Brewery company in the world from a discussion finalised at a club.<\/p>\n
Likewise, there are others (several) big accounts (biddings) we have won in same settings (clubs). Your culture, mindset and growing – up beliefs have made you believe it is wrong to do business in such settings. Oh no!<\/p>\n
In the western world, there are people called lobbyists; they don’t have any other work than to network, facilitate business for you, while they ensure all interest are taken care of.<\/p>\n
Currently, a lot are happening, things are changing and new narratives are being created, but instead of us to see how to explore, we are still condemning the players who are already cashing out . We were brought up in an environment where we were made to see it, as a ‘sin’ or ‘abnormality’ when challenging the status quo in an attempt to explore new frontiers. Too bad!<\/p>\n
IF YOU MUST BREAK NEW FRONTIERS, YOU NEED A FREEDOM OF THE MIND AND BIASED FREE MIND:<\/p>\n
A lot of opportunities have passed you by which you have ignored as a result of your rigid and unproductive mindset.<\/p>\n
My 8 year old son said daddy, I am going to be earning dollars for this family soon and I asked how? He said I want to be a YouTuber. I asked him what he intends to achieve and how to go about it. I was convinced. Without teaching him, he had set up his YouTube channel, he started coding to create contents, and he has started getting viewership. That is the exploration . Someone saw him and said how can you allow a small boy like him access to Internet, that is the problem of cultural restrictions we are talking about.<\/p>\n
You can only help to guide him against some bad things, but not from the opportunity that might shape who he will become in life.<\/p>\n
In Nigeria, any successful person is a ritualist, criminal or drug barron due to how our minds have been programmed.<\/p>\n
Why that awkward thinking? It is simple; we were brought up to see achievements who are gained through defying norms and culture as immoral.<\/p>\n
Some would go as far as saying “Isale oro l’egbin” (Sources of wealth is full of filth) to describe the rich amongst them because to them to be rich – the foundation of your success has to be diabolical and not legitimate. Wrong!<\/p>\n
Well, that is wrong and not appropriate definition. However, to become successful, you must make some sacrifices which sometimes are very embarrassing, humiliating and frustrating, and that is what most of the rich people you see go through.<\/p>\n
As a rich man, the contact through which God has helped you – and – still helping you to claim the status of a rich man could subject you to some forms of humiliating and ridiculous treatments – which – you wouldn’t have a choice.<\/p>\n
I have a client who gives a particular C.E.O. a very huge deal which the latter’s life is established around that singular contract. If the C.E.O. is having fun with his family and the client’s boss ask him to see him immediately, abandoning his family is the next thing.<\/p>\n
I have heard of a bank owner in the country, one of the biggest banks at that, you should know he would be a rich man in billions, but in order to sustain, retain his business and wealth – he had to prostrate – cried like a baby begging to prevent his bank’s license not to be withdrawn back then, due to some high powered game and politics playing out in the business world.<\/p>\n
The bank owner laid flat on the floor for several hours and couldn’t look up for a second while his case is being delibrated upon. The next minute, you might see him outside with a long convoy of luxury cars with world class trained security personnels, but you have no idea what he went through minutes before.<\/p>\n
I have also heard of a client who sometimes would invite you to come and sit with him for a discussion on your special days, possibly your child naming ceremony or other importants occasions – and – if you must continue to retain your financial status ,the pillar of which he or she is from, you must comply.<\/p>\n
These are part of the sacrifices successful people make to retain or expand their statuses. This is exactly the apt definition of ‘Isale oro l’egbin’ (Sources of wealth is full of filth), and not the perception already created in us, or that we grew to accept.<\/p>\n
IF YOU MUST BREAK NEW FRONTIERS IN 2022, YOU MUST UNCHAIN YOURSELF FROM THESE OBSTRUCTIONS:<\/p>\n
Because to succeed and to achieve fortune, you must break new grounds and that is what produces the real money, I mean “MONEY”.<\/p>\n
Anybody can make money- it isn’t selective or discriminatory. It doesn’t care what colour or race you are, what class you belong to, or what your parents did or not. The only thing that can hold you back is yourself.<\/p>\n
Remember there is no way money can know who is handling it, what their qualifications are or what class they belong to because it has no ears, eyes or senses. Money has no discriminatory apparatus, so it can’t judge whether you are worthy of owning it or not.<\/p>\n
IF YOU CAN UNCAGE YOUR ORIENTATION, YOU WILL HAVE A NOSE FOR OPPORTUNITIES ALREADY LIVING WITH YOU:<\/p>\n
You might need just a single person to achieve the entire fortune you need in your lifetime. That is the case of many successful people if you may wish to know.<\/p>\n
A single contact, yes a single person. This might even be an individual smallest in worth in your ‘corner’. But you have lost so many fortunes (Opportunities) and it may be you might have been destined for that ‘single’ fortune bearer (person) as the vehicle to your fortune. The smart rich men do believe that God is not interested in who comes to the world first, act smart and humble yourself to discover the opportunities around you.<\/p>\n
A case!<\/p>\n
My mentor said he used to use a particular branch of Oceanic Bank then, and there is this security man who has been very nice to him whenever he comes around.<\/p>\n
As such, he liked him and he was free to talk to him. So eventually, the security man got to know his nature of job.<\/p>\n
On a particular day, the security man came to him and said he has a person who might need a contract from his company and pleaded to my mentor to give him a trial. My mentor’s company invited the MD of the company of the security guy for the contract bid, he (MD) won the bid.<\/p>\n
My mentor told him after the successful bidding, that he was invited for the pitch because he was recommended by his company’s security man . To the surprise of my mentor, the MD is also very rich but do not have a friendly or informal relationship with the security man. So, be humble to those below you, they might be holding that goldmine useful for your own growth.<\/p>\n
Even me, sometimes ago, despite the little I have, there are some low people I do bring myself down to their levels. There is this a local street DJ who used to rent out microphones and speakers. One day, I was discussing with him and he told me about his business. Then, he rented his speakers for a particular brand (company) at the beach, during the discussion I got the contact of the Brand Manager of the brand (company) which I later opened discussion with. I can tell you for free, my agency won the company’s account, and it was a very very huge pitch for us.<\/p>\n
WHEN YOU GET YOUR ONE ‘PERSON’ (CONTACT), GUIDE IT JEALOUSLY:<\/p>\n
Some of these contacts who God is helping you through are always selfish and greedy, but you will see that still, God loves them and HE continued blessing them.<\/p>\n
So, no matter their greed, if you are too weak to lose them, you might not find your feet again . Some friends will call you a fool, please accept to rather be than to fight such a person and lose him or her.<\/p>\n
I have come across an individual who had to share his company’s profit margin on a 30\/70% sharing ratio with his contact person. I mean 70% to the contact person and 30% was for the owner of the company.<\/p>\n
He did the job, face stress ,and difficulties of the business but at least, he himself is a rich man in billions -and- the singular reason he still remain to be was because of his contact man.<\/p>\n
Keeping such a person means you are morally smart. Don’t listen to the people of culture – moral oriented who will tell you to cut him off or fight him.<\/p>\n
It happens in politics too and we call it God fatherism. You run the government, they earn the gains, but sincerely, the little that comes to you is what is defining who you are.<\/p>\n
So, aside people, there other things we would considered as means of opportunity to break new frontiers but which most people ignore because we are graduates and our parents and our beliefs have conditioned us to certain jobs, or we must belong to the people of knotting tie, hence you don’t have respect or you don’t see any opportunities in the craftsmen around you. Sir\/ma, in them might be where lies your greatness.<\/p>\n
TO BREAK NEW FRONTIERS, YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OPM (Other Peoples Money) OPA (Other Peoples Asset) & OPB ( Other People’s Brain):<\/p>\n
\u2022Let everything mean the same thing here<\/p>\n
Asset, money and brain belonging to other people . Why this is important is that, we have withdrawn from attempting certain frontiers because what our mindsets have been positioned to stick to, it is all about money, that, if you don’t have the money you can’t start . But until I knew, I never knew you can start even without your own asset, money but rather, your brain (Expertise).<\/p>\n
A lot of successful businesses are using OPM to rise and even start.<\/p>\n
Uber and Bolts companies are making millions daily but the assets through which the revenue is coming from is never their assets. May be you can convince me if they are the owners of the vehicles. Just may be!<\/p>\n
I know of someone who has a brief to pitch for, and he needed to win at least to start his life. He never had a company but he has a friend who has a registered company for him to use. Then, he invited some professional friends, they put up the pitching document and they were lucky to get the Job. Multi millions deal. He told the owner of the company to open a new bank account which himself and the real company owner will be signatory to and that is the bank account submitted for the contract so he is in control of that funds. All the Assets used to win the deal were never his, but he had gotten a contract that changed the story of his life. Smart!<\/p>\n
I know of a graduate who never had any knowledge of POP ceiling and POP wall screeding. But he never for once look down on the people doing the job even as a senior bank staff that he was. When with his banking job he is struggling to balance survival needs . He saw his relationship with those POP craftsmen as an asset, then he put up a company profile . He packaged his profile and network his way to an estate under construction in lekki. Fortunately, he was given the job of POP of more than 500 apartments in the estate. Those guys are the one doing the job while he only supervises for quality and standard. You can guess if he has broken even or not. I know him, and I know the assets he has acquired.<\/p>\n
A friend does not have a property in Lekki but rented a duplex there. He is using the apartment for shot let and he is generating 20 times of what he is spending annually on the building.<\/p>\n
You may also learn to understand that 90% of the goods and stocks you see in Shoprite are others people’s assets, they make millions from this on a daily basis.<\/p>\n
There are lots of OPMs and other people’s assets you can leverage on.<\/p>\n
Yes, if you must break new grounds then you need to look beyond your nose.<\/p>\n
The same way someone has maximised the POP experts to his advantage and eventually built life for himself, same thing can be replicated in furniture making.<\/p>\n
I also have a brother in the advertising space who eventually chosed to become a furniture making entrepreneur. He doesn’t know how to handle a single furniture equipment, but he has set up a furniture factory in Mowe, Ogun state.<\/p>\n
He assembled the same set of people who any other person like us would have discriminated against because we were educated.<\/p>\n
But today ,they have a synergy. He has a well branded company to pitch military contract while those people are his production partners. You can do this, and you will still maintain your educational status.<\/p>\n
Someone packaged a brand called ‘Elewure’ (The shepherds), you hardly know he is behind it, infact, his office can competes with that of a Bank Manager. He only acquired the popular ‘Korope’ (Mini) buses, load it with numbers of goats daily . Each bus is attached to a sales representative who is well kitted.<\/p>\n
Each sales representative move from one restaurant to the other, the company is cashing out hugely. You can replicate same in your area.<\/p>\n
Please, if you break the new frontiers and you have the money, remember to note that you are not rich yet if the revenue from the assets you have acquired can not meet your annual family financial needs.<\/p>\n
