The 31-year-old Ghanaian had been reported missing following the devastating earthquakes which claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people in Turkey and Syria on February 6.<\/p>\n
Tremor from the earthquake had hit Atsu\u2019s residence and Mustafa Ozat, Hatayspor\u2019s spokesperson, previously said that Atsu had been found alive but was injured.<\/p>\n
This was refuted by Murat Uzun Memhet, the Ghanaian\u2019s agent, as the search for the former Newcastle United player continued.<\/p>\n

Mehmet, the Turkey-licensed football agent, has however revealed on Saturday morning that Atsu was found dead.<\/p>\n
\u201cChristian Atsu found and sadly passed away,\u201d Mehmet shared on Twitter.<\/p>\n
Nana Sechere, another agent of Atsu who had earlier confirmed that the Ghana footballer\u2019s whereabouts still unknown, also confirmed his death.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well wishers that sadly Christian Atsu\u2019s body was recovered this morning,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support<\/p>\n
\u201cI ask that whilst we make the necessary arrangements, that everyone would please respect the privacy of the family during this very difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Atsu played in 258 matches and scored 24 goals.<\/p>\n
His last match produced his last goal \u2014 an injury-time winner from a long-distance free-kick in<\/p>\n
