The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has received the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat who is the APC consensus candidate.
\nThe symbolic presentation which was performed by a delegation of the GAC members led by its leader, Prince Tajudden Oluyole Olusi.
\nAccording to the First Lady, the GAC which is just like the Electoral College has done well in its choice of Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat.
\n\u201cPolitically, Lagos State has always been at the forefront, showcasing leadership to the rest of the Nigeria. You have added a first and it is so peaceful and I think we are all getting matured politically and have come of age\u201d.
\n\u201cWith all the years of our democracy, we now know that all power belongs to God and He gives it to whoever He pleases\u201d.
\nTh the Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, Senator Oluremi Tinubu commended him for his leadership so far praying a good life thereafter.
\n\u201cYou have done your best and I pray that as you begin to transition, God will keep you and be with you\u201d.
\nEarlier in his remarks, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu explained that Dr Obafemi Hamzat had engaged in diverse consultations and engagements with groups and individuals including some who indicated interest in contesting for the governor\u2019s seat.
\n\u201cYesterday, 25 GAC members were present at the meeting and they unanimously agreed and confirmed our willingness to support Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. We have also presented him to Mr President and he has accepted Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. But as a GAC member yourself, we have come to present him to you, get your motherly blessing and counsel as well\u201d.
\nSpeaking also, the leader of the GAC, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi explained that in yoruba culture, the role of women in governance is institutionalized, laying credence to their visit to the First Lady for her blessing and counsel.
\nThe SSA to the President on Sustainable Development Goals and a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State Princess Adejoke Orelope Adefulire commended the various efforts of the First Lady in the Nation even as she supports the President through her various programs and interventions.
\n\u201cYou are indeed a strong woman and we are really proud of you. We pray the what our leader and mentor, Mr President is doing for this nation will be sustained\u201d.
