Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul” …Henry Ward Beecher
My sincere gratitude goes to the most youth friendly Governor in Nigeria, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR for deeming it fit to make me serve under his administration in his Mission to build our future together.
Words are not enough to express how grateful and lucky I feel to serve Ogun State youths as an Assistant to a kind hearted Governor.
This is despite other qualified personalities in our state, who are ready and have the capacity to assist His Excellency, in youth Administration.
I will like to take out this time to specially applaud our Governor who among many other things have made my work not only easy to discharge but worth the time and energy invested in it .
Your impeccable leadership style coupled with dedication to service laced with hardwork, diligence, and accountability has shown us (your subordinates) the line you want us all to follow. It is therefore not an overstatement to assert that indeed you have an exemplary leadership style that we all must practically follow accordingly.
Again, I’m greatly honoured for the opportunity to serve under you.
In giving my account of stewardship, the last one year as SA to Ogun State Governor on youth and Sports has been quite fulfilling but with its expected challenges.
I will like to put it on record that I have represented the government appropriately within the youths’ constituency and protected the interests of the youths within the government circle as well. This feat , though envious by some people, is quite obvious to everyone in the public space.
Also, I have set the pace of identifying potentials in Ogun State youths, anywhere in the world, who are successful in their endeavors as an encouragement to the younger ones. This goes in line with my special belief and mantra that an empowered youth will do more good for the society than an ignored youth.
Today, many of our youths are now well engaged via vocational, sports and creative activities.
Also Peaceful co-existence among the youths is being sustained. This is probably the longest period the youths have been at ease with each other apart from a few minor fracas here and there which are inevitable in a typical human society.
Furthermore, I ensued peace at the recent Customs killings at Yewa Awori where the medical bill of injured victims were swiftly paid. In a public address to the teaming youths during the incident, I greatly admonished them to embrace peace and not live against one other.
Among other Awards, my most recent Award at Amebo News Hub where people voted massively for me online as the Most Outstanding Youth in Ogun State 2020 is another testament to what many term as commendable in appreciation of my commitment to youth development in Ogun State.
I believe as a recipient of such an award among the many dignitaries is nothing but a pointer to the fact that my leadership acumen when it comes to handling this job as SA is somewhat enviable.
Some said “I’m a gift that keeps on giving”, I humbly correct them that whatever I give to the good people of Ogun state and the youths in particular were gifted to me by our lovely Governor. I am nothing but a tool that has been used to disperse these gifts to the deserving public and therefore humbly thank His Excellency for this rare privilege to serve in this capacity. By the grace of God, I promise to keep doing my duties with the utmost fear of God and respect for humanity, to the best of my abilities.
Your Excellency,
I cannot thank you enough sir.
Yours in Service,
Olamide Lawal
Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth&Sports
