The Lagos State Body of Seriki Hausawas, an umbrella body of Serikis from across the five administrative divisions of Lagos State namely, Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe, symbolically known as IBILE, held its first meeting of 2025 on Friday, 31st January, 2025, at the palace of HRH Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Kuraja, the Sarki Overall and Chairman, Chieftaincy Council of Arewa Community Alimosho, Lagos .
As expected, the meeting, had in attendance, member Serikis from the IBILE divisions, some of whom included, Sarki Hassan Abubakar Auyo of Idi-Araba Mushin, Sarki Haruna Sule of Epe kingdom, Sarki Sulaiman Rabiu of Kuje-Amuwo-Odofin, Sarki Aminu Jubirila of Orile-Agege, Sarki Shittu Idris of Ikorodu, unavoidably absent as a result of bereavement but represented by his secretary, Sarki Sule Haruna of Eredo LCDA, Sarki Abdullahi Musa Ringim of Ikeja, Sarki Abubakar Muhammad of Alagbado-Oke-Abiye and Sarki Overall of Alimosho, the host, to mention a few.
While giving individual reports and feedback at the meeting, participating royalties emphasised the importance of responsible citizenship and the compelling need for members of the Lagos State Body of Seriki Hausawas to increase advocacy and sensitization of their subjects and communities about responsible practices that align with lawful and acceptable standards in Lagos State.
Members were generally reminded and encouraged, where necessary to acquire every legitimate document or credentials including national identity card, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) card, Tax clearance certificate (TCC) and voter’s card amongst others; members were also urged to increase sensitization of Arewa Community members in their jurisdictions of the importance of the aforementioned credentials and the need to possess them where necessary.
Special prayers for Lagos State and Nigeria, led Sheik Mujittafa, Chief Imam of the palace Masjid, were conducted immediately after the Juma’ah service in the palatial mosque inside the palace of the host, HRH Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Kuraja, the Sarki Overall of Alimosho.
It will be recalled, the Lagos State Body of Seriki Hausawas, held its last meeting for the year 2024 in the palace of Sarkin Hausawa of Idi-Araba, Mushin, HRH Alhaji Hassan Abubakar Auyo, where prayers were also held on Friday, 27th, December, 2024, for Lagos and Nigeria for the successful arrival at the end of the year 2024 and a wish for a glorious entry into the current year 2025
