As part of activities to commemorate this year’s International Widow Day, Adekunle Adegunle Global Foundation has thrown a lavish party to celebrate the widows within and outside his community.

The purpose of the party which had in attendance about 500 widows from across Alimosho Federal Constituency was to make the day fun filled and memorable for them.

Also in attendance at the party were theater practioners led by Pa Ajirebi.

Different types of games and dancing competition were displayed while the winners went home with various gift items.

According to the president of the foundation, Barrister Adekunle Adegunle, “It is a thing of joy for me to be associated with widows and support them in anyway  possible. This foundation is founded solely to identify with and support them. At the end of every month, we give out raw food and a token to feed their children.”

“Today been widow’s day, we felt that there is the need to make them happy and have fun in everyway possible.”

“However, we appeal to government at all levels to stop politicising distribution of food and opportunities to widows. It should not always be about party members. You can imagine all our public officers doing empowerment and same set of people are the  beneficiaries. This is not good and it is not helping the society.”

“I also urge private individuals not to wait until they have millions in their accounts before they could help. These widows are the mothers of tomorrow’s leaders and as such they need our total support.”

Adekunle called on well meaning Nigerians to support the foundation in whatever capacity they can to assist it in achieving its aim and objective of putting smiles on the faces of the widows.
