The Lagos State Head of Service (HOS) Mr. Hakeem Muri Okunola today Tuesday 29th June 2021 appeared once again at the Lagos State judicial panel on restitution for victims of SARS related abuses and other matters to be cross examined in relation to his evidence in chief which he gave at the panel earlier sitting of Tuesday 22nd June 2021 in response to the panel witness summons served on him.
The HOS was cross examined by two counsels of identified EndSARS protesters Olumide Fusika (SAN) and J. Uthman and J. I. Ebhosereme counsel of the Nigeria police force on his visuals and documentary supported testimony at the panel.
In response to barrage of questions thrown at him by the counsels, the HOS maintained his earlier testimony which is already in evidence before the panel.
Earlier, the panel had reserved decision to a date to be communicated to counsels on three other petitions for which counsels has adopted their final written and oral addresses.
In another petition, the panel adjourned hearing on a petition in which it requested for certified true copy of court proceedings in the case of Evangelist Micheal Okorie vs the Nigeria police force based on the respondent objection raised to the panel hearing the matter because he claimed it was still ongoing in court, but which was disputed by the petitioner counsel who stated that the matter had been struck out due to his application to the court to strike out the matter which was granted.
Today, the petitioner counsel availed the panel, copies of the court ruling and application for the matter to be struck in court which was granted and after some legal exchanges, the respondent agreed with the position of law on the matter and in it’s ruling, the panel agreed for the matter to go on and adjourned it to 13th July, 2021 hearing.
