The Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, Hon Kehinde Joseph has called on the private investors to take advantage of the huge potentials in the State’s Agricultural Sector as the Lagos State Government distribute productive assets and inputs to three thousand (3,000) Agriprenuers with agricultural inputs at the flag off of Y2021 Agricultural Value Chains Enterprise Activation Programme held earlier today at the Police College, Ikeja.
Kehinde Joseph in his speech reiterated that his call on the private investors is imperative because there are a lot of untapped potentials in the State’s Agricultural Sector waiting to be exploited.
“The government alone wouldn’t be able to bring about the desired development in the sector, hence, the charges for collaboration”
“The Y2021 Agricultural Value Chains Enterprise Activation Programme is a five (5) initiative to create an enabling environment for youths in the agriculture landscape to thrive because the youths are the future of agriculture as they would be the ones to replace the aged and ageing farmers and agriprenuers in the State”, he said.
At the event, the beneficiaries were given tractors, ploughs, fishing boats and gear; harvesters, threshers, de-stoning machines, de-feathering machines, medication, herbicides, fish juveniles, pig growers, smoking kilns, eggs, among others.
The farm inputs are to be utilized in farming communities across the agricultural zones of Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu et al.
Speaking further, Kehinde Joseph make it known that he’s delighted to be present at the flag off of distribution of agricultural productive assets and inputs under the Y2021 Agricultural Value Chains Enterprise Activation Programme as the initiative will increase food production in the State from the current 20% to at least 50% of demand by 2025.
“On behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, I commend Mr Governor, his Deputy and other cabinets, most especially the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture for the laudable initiative. I’m using this medium to appeal to all the private sector, other stakeholders, agricultural associations and unions, local communities, traditional and community leaders, the youth groups, and most especially the beneficiaries to join hands together to feed Lagos State, feed Nigeria and build lasting and transportational wealth through agriculture,” he concluded.
