The chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede, has urged Nigerian youth to embark on skills acquisition in order to evade unemployment in the country.
The council boss made the appeal on Thursday at a skills acquisition training organized by Senator Adeola Olemilekan Solomon at the council secretariat as special guest of honour, stressing that only acquisition of skills will help in combating unemployment across the country.
Oloyede who was represented by his chief press secretary (CPS), Comrade Gbenga Soloki, commended Senator Solomon for the programme and advised all other senators to emulate the good gestures of the Lagos West Senator.
He noted that his administration is equally working towards training and empowering the youths of the council area in order to reduce the unemployment rate as well as take the youth off the streets.
He noted that skill acquisition is the way to go both at the federal, state and local government level.
The council boss equally enjoined the participants to make good use of the opportunity provided by practicing what they have been thought at the programme.
In his response, the representative of senator Olamilekan Solomon, Hon Emmanuel Olojede thanked the council helmsman for attending the event, stating that he was the first to have attended their programmes in the state, even through in proxy.
He commended him for having the youth in his agenda, stressing that investing in the youth is the most important programme any Progressive can embark upon.
