A delegation of the Northern Nigeria Youth Organization (NNYO), was among the array of youth umbrella bodies across the length and breadth of Lagos state, that, graced the symbolic Lagos Youth Symposium, which was steered by the Lagos state ministry of youth and social development, on Tuesday, 19th October, 2021, with the chief host of the event, the executive governor of Lagos state, His Excellency Mr. Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, present.
The youth parley, with the theme “REBUILDING FOR GREATNESS, was held at the famous Blue Roof event centre in Agidingbi, Ikeja, with the chief host and governor of Lagos state, engaging the youths on values that will truly engender a better society, fit and working for all especially the one that promotes and ensures the creation of productive and highly responsible youth and by implication, great and exemplary leaders for the state and Nigeria at large.
The event witnessed massive turn out of youth groups, students and many more youth based socio-economic interests and artisans and had the Lagos state honorable commissioner for youth and social development, Mr. Olusegun Dawodu and the senior special assistant on youth development, to the governor, Saheed A. Afonja, amongst other guests and dignitaries in attendance.
His Excellency, governor Sanwoolu, during his address, reaffirmed the government’s special place for the youth, highlighting numerous youth centered initiatives and projects of the government, that have continued to empower and change the narratives of the Lagos youths for better; the governor assured to continue to raise the bar all for a greater Lagos for all.
One of the high points of the event was the formal decoration of the senior special assistant to the governor on youth development, Saheed A. Afonja, as a honorary member of the Northern Nigeria Youth Organization (NNYO).
Commenting, chairman of the Lagos state chapter of the NNYO, Comrade (AMB.), Salisu Sani Danmuttaqa, reaffirmed the organization’s readiness and availability to always partner with the Lagos state government, in promoting its policies, programs and initiatives, geared towards, advocacies, enlightenment and empowerment of the Lagos youths.
