Serious crisis is brewing in the Ondo state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the Governor Arakunrin Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu and his deputy Agboola Ajayi are on war path over the gubernatorial race in the state.
The crisis it was gathered started over a year ago when the governor got wind that his deputy has been making frantic efforts to oust him,the Governor made attempt at impeaching his deputy but being very close to the assembly, that attempt was frustrated by the deputy and his men in the assembly.
Furthermore,there has been no love lost between the duo ,but leaders have continued to interfere with the hope of resolving their differences but all to no avail.
The face off between them has gotten to crescendo as the deputy has concluded plans to decamp to the rival People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to actualise his desire to govern the oil rich state..
Report has it that being from Ikale and with the underdevelopment in the place,political and opinion leaders have resolved in the south of Ondo to support any party that picks their son as candidate so as to develop their district.
Based on this gentleman agreement,forces in the APC from Ikale axis are in support of the candidacy of Olushola Oke ,another strong force from there.
The situation has degenerated to the extent that the deputy governor was prevented from leaving the state house for about five hours by the police led by the commissioner of police himself,which led to serious altercations between the duo.
Information further has it that eleven members of the house of Assembly have perfected plans to defect with the deputy to PDP.
However,a senior government official who will want to remain unanimous disclosed that the deputy governor is a clear misfit for the office as he is an ‘illiterate who can’t be trusted with political power and that secondly ,the governor has declared to seek second term in office and a loyal deputy should show solidarity with his boss.’
The government source also posited that the wonderful projects of the governor stands him in good stead for another term.
He mentioned several laudable projects scattered all over the state and visible to all as testimonial of his 4 year rule ,which will ultimately culminate in another 4 year term.
He claimed the Ore axis has become a business hub and several companies are already manufacturing goods which include ethanol,cloth and truck assembly plants.
