In the spirit of Christmas and New Year celebration, the Lawmaker representing Alimosho Constituency II, in the ninth (9th) Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Kehinde Olaide Joseph, has distributed gifts items to widows and indigent elders in Alimosho Constituency II.
Distributing the items yesterday, Wednesday, December 22, 2021, Kehinde Joseph, appreciated God for the Grace to be alive to witness another Christmas celebration and explained that his intention is to take advantage of the yuletide to put smiles on the faces of widows and psychologically integrate them into the Christmas celebration.
He stated that nothing will make any meaning to a hungry person. The major challenge to governance lies in reducing the poverty index. “Nothing gives me more joy than giving to the vulnerable and making life more meaningful to the less privileged members of the the society”, he said.
According to him, the yearly presentation of food items is not his first time of making life more bearable to the widows and the aged in the society who have no means of celebrating the festive period with members of their families.
The Chairman House Committee on Agriculture stated that the exercise, which began years ago was in response to giving back to the society a little from what God had bestowed on him, adding that nothing was too much to give to humanity in appreciation of God’s mercy and goodness on his entire family.
One of the beneficiaries, said, since she lost her husband many years ago, things have not been rosy. Making a living to feed her children has been very difficult. At the end of each year, she looked forward to when ‘miraculous’ gifts will come to enable her celebrates Christmas and New Year.
As fate would have it, she heard of Hon Kehinde Joseph, distributing Christmas Largesse to widows and the aged. And she was one of the beneficiaries. Now, she is beaming with smiles for she can now celebrate Christmas and New Year with her children.
“This gesture would forever be remembered in my life, and pray God should continue to wax stronger the Lawmaker in his stride to make life more abundant for the downtrodden”, she stressed.
