An Ayobo -Ipaja LCDA chairmanship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming local government elections in the state, Azeezat Damilola -Odubajo Owonla has enjoined the Muslims around the world to abide strictly by the rules guiding the sacred month of Ramadan.
The APC chairmanship hopeful in a statement made available to our correspondent, stated that being alive to witness another month of ramadan is not a rigth but a privilege, hence we should thank Allah for preserving our lives.
According to her, maximizing the blessings therein should be the pursuit of every muslim in this month of forgiveness.
Her words, “Rising in the dawn to observe prayers and the early meal (sahur) for fasting are not all, but abiding by the rules that guide it is the ultimate. We should seize the mercy that comes with this month to pray for peace in Nigeria and it’s progress.”
Quoting from the holy book of the Muslim Faithfuls, she said, “Chapter 2 vs 183 – 4 of the holy Quran made it mandatory on the muslims to observe the obligatory fasting and for a specified period of time.
“O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for those before you, that ye may ward off (evil).”
“(Fast) a certain number of days; and (for) him who is sick among you, or on a journey, (the same) number of other days; and for those who can afford it there is a ransom: the feeding of a man in need – but whoso doeth good of his own accord, it is better for him: and that ye fast is better for you if ye did but know,” she averred.
