The commissioner of police in charge of the Kebbi state command, CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, has warned that, criminals will hardly find any safe haven to unleash their dare devil machinations in the state.
The police chief, gave the hints, while, hosting guests, including media practitioners and a youth based organization, the Northern Nigeria Youth Organization (NNYO), who paid a courtesy visit to the Gwadangwaji headquarters of the Nigeria police force in Kebbi state.
Shedding lights on the resolve of the command under his stewardship to reinforce safety and security of lives and property in the state, CP kontagora, submitted that, no sooner had he assumed office, barely five months ago, he embarked on intensive show of force operations, all across the state, with special attention on areas termed as blackspots and vulnerable areas.
Speaking further, he said, courtesy visits to all tiers of traditional institutions and numerous other relevant stakeholders had been a top priority since he took charge, in conscious and strategic efforts to reinforce community policing, which is a cardinal metric of the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba, towards involving the citizenry unto the crime fighting framework of the Nigeria police.
Regular inter agency meetings are also been sustained and re-engineered to maintain synergy and unison of the singular purpose and mandate of adequate security cover for lives and property in the entire state of Kebbi, CP Kontagora had said; he, however, sought the full cooperation and assistance of the citizens of the state, through regular, reliable and actionable intelligence, maintaining that, the command’s doors will always be open to legitimate engagements as he further assured them of their anonymity and safety.
Responding, a member of the Northern Nigeria Youth Organization (NNYO), Kebbi state chapter, Bashir Liman Adamu, commended CP Kontagora for the courage to embark on show of force operations to areas hitherto termed as unreachable, maintaining that, confidence and trust is been restored amongst the citizens of the state; he assured the police chief of NNYO’s readiness to assist the police in all areas necessary to ensure better security and safety in the state.
Current statistics show that, a lot of success have been recorded during the period under review as many criminal gangs have been apprehended and scores of others neutralized.
