The Southwest zone of the All Progressives Congress has condemned in the strongest terms the shameful and barbaric act of a purported group called ‘Yoruba Nation’ to hijack the democratically elected government, which it described as a big surprise, strange, and an act that can cause confusion and halt the peace and stability in the region.
According to Hon. D.I. Kekemeke, the Chairman of the Southwest zone of the All Progressives Congress, “some miscreants, under the aegis of the illegal ‘Yoruba Nation,’ invaded the Oyo State secretariat with dangerous weapons and charms, possibly with the intent to take over power from the democratically elected government of the state.”
“We condemn this senseless and dangerous act and call on the relevant authorities to investigate it to unravel the reasons behind it. We equally disown the perpetrators of the crime as they do not represent the interests of the Southwest people, who are known and respected for their ‘omoluabi’ ethos.”
“Yorubas are reasonable, responsible, and trustworthy people who believe in the Nigerian project and will not succumb to any attempt by marauders to infiltrate our system with selfishness and hatred. Our people are doing everything to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration and are solidly behind the government in its efforts to put the country on a sound and sustainable path to development,” the statement reads.
The body commiserates with the people and government of Oyo State on the treasonable act committed by these elements of darkness and encourages them to keep hope alive, as Nigeria will soon reclaim its leadership position in the comity of nations.
