Men of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce) on Tuesday , August 13, 2024, seized 164 motorcycles for deliberately disobeying traffic laws of the state.
The seizure was effected during a coordinated enforcement drive across state roads statutorily prohibited from use by motorcycle riders.
Areas where the confiscations took place include Abule-Ado, Trade-Fair, V-Niger and Alaba-Suru, along Mile 2-Iyana-Iba-Badagry Express Way; other locations include, Ojodu-Berger bus stop, inward Agege, along Ogunnusi road, Ojodu.
The directive of the commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Fayoade Adegoke, is to never rest on our oars on this and yesterday’s operation was in continuation of routine Okada ban enforcement across the State especially against recalcitrant motorcycle operators testing our resolve to ensure total compliance with the Lagos State transport sector reformed traffic law 2018 as amended, said CSP Akerele Adetayo, chairman of the agency; he added that, issues of safety and security of citizens were two major considerations driving government resolve to ensure compliance with road traffic regulations without any slack.
