“Are you a politician asking what your country can do for you, or a zealous one asking what you can do for your country? If you’re the first, then you’re a parasite; if you’re the second, then you’re an oasis in a desert.” This wisdom echoes the sentiments of Gibran Khalil Gibran in his 1925 essay, “The New Frontier.”
Similarly, President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address on January 20, 1961, reminds us: “My fellow citizens, ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”
Let us all play our part in building the Nigeria we want to see. Your sacrifice will never be in vain. Happy 65th Independence Anniversary. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
