The federal and Oyo state government have been called upon to ensure that criminals who killed innocent people in Igangan in the early hours of Sunday are apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.
The call was made by the Coalition Of Oodua Self Determination Groups(COSEG) in a press statement issued on Monday and signed by comrade Dayo Ogunlana, the chairman Cordinating committee of the Group ,where the group condemned in its entirety the massacre perpeterated by the the Fulani herdsmen who maimed and destroyed properties including the palace of the king in Igangan town of Oyo state, while expressing this,the group also chided the Special Assistant to the President,Garba Sheu for his previous statements protecting the Fulani Criminals.
According to COSEG’ “its with sadness we heard the maiming and destruction of our people’s properties in Igangan area of Oyo state. The activities of the Fulani who we were told came in the middle of the night was in response of the pampering and misguided statements of Garba Sheu ,the Special Assistant to the President who makes statements that condones and indirectly supports the misguided and violent activities of the Fulani Marauders. We await his usual and sadistic response to the attack perpeterated by his fellow Fulani men”
The group chairman also called on the Government to immediately arrest the perpetrators.
The group said “We are alarmed by this irrational behaviour and therefore call on all authorities concerned to arrest the perpetrators urgently. This action must not be covered up. Information or details on their arrests must be given from time to time”.
The group also posited that they have directed the Group iseya council to support the police in combing the towns and it’s environment to find the perpetrators
The group said” we cannot leave this to the police alone and as such, we have directed our topmost iseya council to support the police to search Igangan and all neighboring towns for these criminals so that we can put an end to these callous,barbaric,
insensitive and wicked acts perpeterated by the angels of doom. We shall not fold our arms and allow these destardly act to contunue. All those involved must not go unpunished”
The group called on the Yoruba people to be vigilant now and report any strange movements in their various communities.
The Group said ” we call on our people to be ever vigilant now,take nothing for granted, look inward in the communities and report strange movements.These events are hugely strange though not unexpected because of the status of the criminals we are dealing with and the protection they always have,as Such we must be ever vigilant”.
COSEG clearly stated that they will not call on anybody to call the Fulani criminals to order.
The chairman said” if the criminal fulanis are expecting us to start telling thier friends in government to call them to order again,they will wait for eternity but we assure them and very hopeful that a day of reckoning will come where their evil deeds will be deflated and the evil doers get punished”.
COSEG also lamented the desecration of the Yoruba values and the massacre.
The group said.
“Our people have been killed,our esteemed heritage and custom desecrated by these criminals who are bent on destroying the fabricks of this country.we have been tolerant enough. Our people are sad and their livelyhood destroyed. Enough is enough. This recklessness of these people must stop”.
The group finally called on responsible, genuine and patriotic Nigerian Leaders to impress it on Mr president on the importance of National Conference because of it urgent need.
The group said” conclusively,we call on patriotic,genuine and responsible Nigeria Leaders with concience to plead to Mr President to put all machineries in motion that will lead to the convocation of unconditional and genuine National Conference. We call on Mr president for the uptenth time to urgently liase with other authority concerned and convene a genuine National Conference,anything short of this is a disservice to Nigeria.
