Few weeks ago, the uproar that embraces the announcement of the construction of the Old Garage Market popularly called Igboro Market in Ilaro was overwhelming.
Seemingly, there are more to the said face lift cum reconstruction as many behind curtain ordeals erupted few days back, something that calls for prompt intervention of the state government.
The reconstruction contract which was awarded to Ojuolape Construction company by the local government led by the transition chairman, Alhaji Bode Fagbenro with a signboard already erected at the market square experienced its first set back as charms and sacrifice of different degree were seen at the market few days to the commencement of the construction.
After a sponsored protest to the Palace of the Olú of Ilaro who doubles as the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland by market men and women protesting against reconstructing the market, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle however as in his usual manner, Mobilized another set of engineer and labourer to the market site.
These implies the traditional ruler wants to take over the construction of the market despite the contract being awarded to another company.
This has generated so much hullabaloo in the town has labourers mobilized to the site have turned the peaceful town into a battle field chasing each other with different grades of weapons.
Concerned commuters hereby call on the attention of the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to caution Ọba Olugbenle not to turn the town into a battle field which might give room to hoodlums to carry out their usual duty.
OGUN State Governor should call the king to order as he has on several occasions hijacked construction projects and other developmental projects within the community for himself due to his selfishness.
The Youths won’t be taking it lightly this time around and any attempt to deprive the real contractor approved by concerned authorities the right to reconstruct the market will be welcomed with stiff rejection regardless the outcome.
The approved contractor is Ojuolape and any other contractor seen on the market site will be seriously dealt with, to avoid this, the Governor should intervene as a matter of urgency and the positive outcome should be made public within the next couple of days.
