• No House of My Own Ten Years After Service
The week long event to celebrate comrade Olalekan Majiyagbe as the education secretary of Agege local government education authority since 2009 to this day – the 18th of November, 2020 will come to an end with an event tagged ‘triumphant celebration’ at lagooz xsentials event center,Orile Agege.
Majiyagbe who has served in different capacities in the past appreciated the government for the opportunities, and those who have worked with him over the years.
In his speech, Sincerely, I give glory to God and I must say, I am a fulfilled man after ten years of dedicated service. It is not a easy journey but it worth the while. On my resumption of office, what I met on ground is nothing to write home about but today the reformation is glaring even for the blind to see.”
” I have had spiritual attack on this job that got me paralyzed at a point, yet, I chose not to be discouraged. I was so determined to ensure my impact is felt and that I should be remembered for something positive when I will be leaving the office, now the time to leave the office is here, power is transient. I give glory to God.”
” To some civil servants or public workers, it is about amassing wealth illegally. And I keep asking myself to what end? So, for me, it is about service and not using any giving opportunity to cheat the system. It will surprise you after ten years in office as education secretary also with the previous appointments, I still don’t have a house of my own. “
When asked what next after the expiration of his tenure he said” There is another appointment already for me, but giving more attention to my ‘home’ (Ipaja) in contributing to my community in whatever capacity is also part of what is next for me. I enjoy serving humanity, that is my calling.”
Majiyagbe, Olalekan Olatunde was born on the 7th of June ,1963 in Ipaja Lagos. He graduated from University of Nigeria, Nsukka in Enugun state. He is married with five kids. He loves playing table tennis. He had served Lagos State government on different capacities and the nation; Lagos State task on environmental sanitation and special offences,ikeja, Lagos State CASSON clinic isheri ikeja rehabilitation counsellor, Enumerator, National population commission, facilitator , national population commission, former deputy executive secretary mushin local government, supervisory councillor for health & environment, mushin local government, amongst numerous appointments.
