Plans by the embattled local government chairman in Apapa local government, Hon Elijah Owolabi Adele to completely wreck the council financially has been exposed after his failure to secure a second term ticket .
It was revealed that his desperation has taken him to consult so many political jobbers who are milking him seriously and making failed promises to him.
In a press release by the leadership of Apapa Liberation Team (ALT) signed by Comrade Lanre Owosheni, disclosed that information at their disposal from credible sources shows that the highly combative and arrogant outgoing chairman has embarked on spending spree o f the council resources to ensure he gets elected by all means.
According to him” from reliable information made available, Adele has been going about raising money from the council’s purse using frivolous sub headings. Immediately after the election, he took thirty five million naira (#35 million) for security and environment cleaning. We want to say with all emphasis that it ended in his pocket to ‘settle’ his politics jobbers working to get him back as candidate having insulted our pragmatic part chairman in the state”
It was also revealed that he has obtained seventy five million naira (#75 million ) from the contractor handling the construction of he new office complex in Apapa local government promising him that the money will be in included in his contract sum once he gets the ticket back or he gets his stooge in PDP into office.
” this is a warning to the contractor handling the construction of the new office complex in Apapa local government that the loan given to Adele as upfront for the job can’t be included in the contract terms as Adele promised him. The seventy five million naira is private discussion amongst them and at the appropriate time,he will account for it. “the ALT spokesperson maintained.
Furthermore,at a meeting he had with members of his kitchen cabinet,he has told them to be standby for defection to the Accord party and that the ticket of the party has been reserved for him.
The ALT spokesperson equally disclosed that another option being considered by the embittered politician is to bankroll the Candidate of the PDP, Hon Deley Bandaki for the coming election to discredit the APC and it’s leadership.
Several vouchers have been written under frivolous headings with which he intends to rake in money to bankroll the aspiration of Hon Deley Bandaki in PDP.
To show his seriousness of the PDP option , a member of his kitchen cabinet, Hon Ben visited the PDP candidate to firm up their discussions.
It was gathered that his planned defection to Accord is an attempt to deceive the people and APC of his intentions to bankroll the PDPD
candidate. .
ALT also disclosed that his desperation has led him into signing different agreements with so many people and various sums of money being promised.
Hon Adele according to findings has been using a company owned by one Mr Paul,a brother in law of Adele’s godfather and predecessor,Hon Ayodeji Joseph and that the company Tanbokun has been doing most of the contracts and payment is one hundred percent down payment.
Adele has also effected the transfer of management staff who have had cause to challenge him on his reckless spending,among those transfered include the council Budget officer,legal officer and the procurement officer.
It was also shown that most of the jobs are given outside of the procurement act ,a decision that the ALT promised will be challenged in the court of law soon and that any civil servant that try to stand up against such recklessness is threatened with posting out of the council.
In his words” Hon Adele’s desperation for the purse of the council is despicable, irresponsible and uncharitable. While he perfecting plans to defect to Accord party, he is also bankrolling the candidate of the PDP, Hon Ben was with hin few days ago to firm up their arrangements. Contractors who worked for the council are being owed by the council boss and those paid are tricked into releasing the amount for the prosecution of his second term ambition.
The ALT however promised that any attempt by the embattled chairman to arm twist the leadership of the Party into changing the already concluded process of selection of candidates will be vehemently resisted by all legal means necessary.
