Yoruba self determination group,Coalition of Oodua Self determination Group, (COSEG) has condemned in strong terms,the Thursday invasion of the Ibadan residence of Yoruba republic Agitator,Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
The position of Coalition Of Oodua Self Determination Groups ( COSEG) was made known at the end of the Week meeting on Friday in a press release issued in Ibadan ,
Oyo State signed by Comrades Ifedayo Ogunlana and Dele Daramola the chairman and publicity Secretary of the group’s coordinating council respectively.
The group condemned in the entirety the invasion of Sunday Igboho’s house, the killing of his friends,associates and destruction of his properties.
According to COSEG ” we are perturbed and surprised that the agents of government can destroy the property of it’s citizen without looking back and also kill citizen at will. We want to state clearly,we condemn in entirety the invasion of Sunday Igboho’s house and the murder of his associates. This is a clear show of force and disdain for the Yoruba people. We cannot not sit and allow this irresponsible show of power go without condemnation.it is sad that our governments are misdirecting their interventiony. These brute show of power is yet to be used on Gumi friends in the bush. What is good for the goose should also be good for the gender”.
The group called on all Yoruba groups to stand up and condemn this act of irresponsibility from our security forces who destroyed citizens property and killed its people unnecessarily.
The group said “It baffles us that till today our security forces that are showing crude power and intimidation have not arrested any Fulani man that destroy town and villages in Igboho nor have we heard that they stormed the houses of fulani men that destroyed Igboho’s town last month. But they have the will and power to take the lives of Yoruba men and destroyed their property.” This killing is unnecessary and a dangerous trend in our polity. A reckless show of unwarranted and brute Force on a Yoruba activist out defend his people.”
The group also stated that it is laughable to hear the reason why the security services stormed the house of Sunday Igboho and said no right thinking Nigerian will believe this, considering the development that led to it.
The group said” no right thinking Nigerian will believe the reasons adduced by the security agents in attacking Sunday Igboho’s house. It is cruel and laugbable.its a way of calling a dog a bad name in order to hang it”.we refused to be sold a dummy. They should stop overheating the polity and divert their strenght and force on Gumi’s friends wherever they are. Let them use the force on people, the Fulani Lords displacing people of their property, cruel people maiming, kidnapping and raping our people.”
The group stated that the federal government’s approach to the destructions by criminal Fulani herdsmen is partial and tactical method to suppress the Yoruba people.
The group said” we have heard it before now that a conscious and tactical method has been allegedly designed by some fulani led presidency officials to silence the yoruba voice. We never knew this is what was designed. Now,we can see the extent the fulani led security forces can go”.
The group calls for immediate release of those people arrested at Igboho’s house
The group said” we call for immediate release of those arrested at Igboho’s house during the illegal and irrational invasion. We want to say and very clearly that their right is being tampered with and this is condemnable. We warn that federal government should put a stop to this selective invasion and arrest. We are not happy with the trend and the ways and manner this Fulani herdsmen are going about the country destroying our property and expecting us to keep quiet.No matter what is being done to protect the criminal Fulani men that have made the western part of Nigeria a home , we shall resist their destruction and murders. We will not gift an inch of our land to them.”
The group also called on the security forces to drop the tag of wanted man imposed on Sunday Igboho.
Conclusively” it is clear that our security agent wants to intimidate those who can stand for their people in the southwest. That was why they stormed Sunday Igboho’s house and thereafter put a wanted man tag on him. We call on the security to drop this illegal tag on Sunday Igboho,stressing the this petty method and intimidating style of witchhunting should stop forthwith. Sunday Igboho is a responsible man,he must not be killed while the tag of a wanted man put on him must be dropped with immediate effect. We are not just happy as things are and the trend of events”.the group averred
