As the clock ticks close to the local government election in Lagos state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate in Oshodi-Isolo, Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede has continued to gain more supports for his election bid.
The latest endorsement and adoption was on Wednesday when the Igbos in Oshodi-Isolo local government gathered to throw the weight of their support and endorse the candidature of Otunba Oloyede.
The Igbos who are also members of the APC in Oshodi assured the party and Otunba Oloyede of their support in making sure he wins the coming election with a landmark margin.
Led by its leader, Mrs Kate Eleruwa, the Igbos sang and danced as they welcomed Otunba Oloyede to the Rims Events Centre venue of the event.
Eleruwa while welcoming the chairmanship candidate of the party, assured him of block votes from the Igbos in the coming elections.
“Why we are here today is to adopt and endorse Kendoo as our candidate. I am speaking on behalf of the Igbos in Oshodi that we will give you a block vote at the elections,” she said.
She stated further that more Igbos and non-Igbo speaking residents of Oshodi to vote for Otunba Oloyede in the July 24 local government election.
In his speech at the event, Otunba Oloyede thanked the Igbos for their support and endorsement of his candidature. He promised to operate a detrbalised government when elected.
While assuring them of making his government an all-inclusive, Oloyede urged them to give him a block vote in the elections, only this, he said would give him the ability to win the election.
Oloyede said he would ensure health care centres in the council wear network as modern health equipment will be put in and monitored for effectiveness.
“If you can give us block vote, we will give a place in our government. That is the guarantee I want to give to you.
“Our health sector is moribund, we must homage all these. We will make the health centres better for all, our health centres will be able to treat hypertension, diabetes and we will give free drugs to patients,” he said.
Oloyede also promised that his administration will build 20 roads within 100 days in office.
“We will continue from where Ariyoh stopped to make Oshodi better. I will repair and construct 20 roads within 100 days of office. We will link all the inner roads to the major roads,” he said.
Speaking on development that will come to the education sector, Oloyede said, “We will make sure we have 24 hours internet at home for our students in schools. We are bringing in computers for our children to use. We will start with few schools and see how it goes.
We will also empower our women, youths and widows. We want to get our youths out of the streets by giving them jobs. We will reorientate them and inculcate them to the society.”
Also, the Association of Traditional Medicine Practitioners of Lagos State Oshodi branch equally endorsed the candidature of Otunba Kehinde Oloyede and promised him their support and vote on the election day.
