The much awaited local government election in Lagos State held yesterday and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede, emerged as the chairman of Oshodi Isolo local government.
At the peacefully conducted election which took place in all the seven wards of the local government, the business mogul trounced his second opponent, the candidate of the People’s Democratic party, Rilwan Akinbiyi, in all the wards.
Announcing the outcome of the election at the legislative building of the local government yesterday, the returning officer, Mr Bola Olaitan Ademola, disclosed that the candidate of the APC having polled the highest number of lawful votes and having satisfied all the requirements hereby declared winner and returned elected as the chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government and the entire hall erupted in jubilation to celebrate the victory of the son of former iyaloja of Oshodi.
Otunba Oloyede scored twenty five thousand, four hundred and sixty- six votes(25,466) while the PDP candidate, Mr. Rilwan Akinbiyi, scored one thousand four hundred and eighty- three votes (1,483)
Otunba Oloyede in his brief comment thanked God for the victory promising he will not disappoint the people of Oshodi/Isolo, and that he will deliver on his campaign promises.
He commended the leaders and members of the APC for the confidence reposed in him by supporting his aspiration, stressing that God almighty will reward them bountifully.
Among dignitaries present at the collation centre are the former vice chairman of the council, Barrister Kayode Tinubu, Alhaji Adedayo Thomas of the National Film and video Censors Board as well as the chairman of the NURTW in Lagos State, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya and other party chieftains.
