The Lagos State judicial panel on restitution for victims of SARS related abuses and other matters sitting in Lagos today Tuesday 3rd August 2021 adjourned hearing on the Lekki incident investigation to a date to be communicated to counsels.
When the matter came up today as listed in the causelist, some members of the panel were absent though all counsels involved were present, the panel counsel informed the panel that the representative of Sentinel Forensics limited was absent, but this did not go down well with some of the counsels who expressed disappointment over the development despite the assurances that they had received which made them to turn up personally and not delegate appearance for today’s sitting even at the expense of other matters requiring their attention else where.
The panel chairman Justice Doris Okuwobi (Rtd.) then stepped in to apologize and stated that the adjournment was at the instance of the panel due to the absence of some members that the panel wanted all the members to be present when the matter is heard and that this was the consideration that necessitated the adjournment.
The panel then adjourned the matter to a date to be communicated to counsels after having obtained the understanding of all members to be present for the hearing.
Four other matters were heard today of which two were adjourned for the filing of final written address by counsels, while the other two were adjourned for further hearing.
