Health: Hon Kehinde Joseph Organises Free Eye Services For Constituents With Eye Challenges, Says, The Eye Is The Lamp Of The Body

As part of the programmes to mark this year edition of the Lagos State House of Assembly Annual Stakeholders’ Meeting, the member, Lagos State House of Assembly, doubles as Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, Hon Kehinde Joseph, organized free eye services for the Constituents of Alimosho Constituency II, with eye challenges.

The programme which held at AJ Hotel, KLM 5, Lasu-Igando Road, Igando Lagos, featured free eye test, free consultation and free medical glasses.

To open the programme, Hon Kehinde Joseph, gave a short speech on the importance of healthy sight sustained by frequent testing and care.

In his speech; “The book of Matthew 6:22-23 noted it, that the eye is the lamp of the body. If the eyes are good, the whole body will be full of light, but if the eyes are bad, the whole body will be full of darkness and if then the light within us is darkness, how great is the darkness?

“So, as the custodian of your mandate and my obliged promise to do everything within my capacity and within the resources available to me to improve your social and economic wellbeing, irrespective of political affiliation and differences in ideology and opinions, I deem it fit to come up with this free eye tests and screening programme where everyone with eye challenges will be screen, tests and be given glasses after due procedures because primary eye care is the essential building block for the prevention of blindness in every communities around the world”, he said.

The optometrist and opthalmologist on ground educate the constituents more about eye care, make it known that the regular eye exams by an ophthalmologist or optometrist are important for both adults and children.

“Adults’ should make sure that their eyes should be tested to keep prescriptions current and to check for early signs of eye disease and that the children’s eye exams play an important role in ensuring normal vision development, which is a necessary component of academic achievement”, they noted.

The eye test and other services commenced after the short speech and educative awareness, with the Obas from the Constituency, the first to be tested. Other Constituents followed thereafter.

After testing and consultation, free medical glasses were given out to those with the need for them.

The beneficiaries thanked the Honourable Lawmaker for the thoughtful gesture, praying that “God will strengthen, keep and bless him.”
