No fewer than 250 persons both young and old were graduated from the skills aquisition put up by Speed – Up Lagos project in partnership with the Lagos State government, the local governments and local council development areas.

The event which was well attended is established to support the T.H.E.M.ES agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwoolu which is to empower the Youths and bring dividends of democracy closer to them.

According to Chief Mrs. Bola Shobowale, the executive chairman of Ayobo- Ipaja LCDA, this empowerment programme is a Lagos state government initiative and in line with her T.H.E.M.E.S agenda which all LGs and LCDAs embrace in view of the tremendous benefits to the people in the communities within the local council area. Today’s world belongs to those who acquire skills in various preffered vocations to augment their sources of income. There are some people who are desirous in getting the skills but hampered by fund to undertake the training. Hence, this LCDA sees this as a challenge and there is a need to step in to fill the void by organizing the trainings on different vocational skills at no cost to each participant.”

“We are quite aware that the cost of acqiurig tools for the implementation of skills learned is not easy to come by , it is in the light of this , that our administration has decided to give out needed tools for smooth take -off to the participants.”

“I therefore urge you all not to remain stagnant but rather continue adding to your wealth of ideas and what learned in the past two weeks to deploy modern technology and innovations, as that will stands you out from the crowd.”

In a related development, the director of Speed -Up Lagos Project, Mrs. Oluwagbemisola Ajetunmobi said ” Things are fast changing and one must be move with trend in a positive manner to create job for oneself and pay oneself. I’m really happy personally for the support from governments across board and individuals.”

“Surely, poverty will be ‘killed’ at the momentum Speed – Up Lagos is moving. We want to make sure, most of the youths are self employed as that is the only way to build a rewarding future. Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA has really done very well in making this a reality. We say a big thank you to the Chairman for this wonderful opportunity.”

Speed Up Lagos is an independent organization which it’s main aim is to fight poverty with massive skills training and empowerment to the people.
