•B.S.A: THE SILENT VOICE IMPACTING LIVES IN ALIMOSHO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
The truism in the aphorism that a golden fish has no hiding place cannot be over emphasized. As a precious stone, Gold shines brightly to distinguish itself from ordinary stones. With this quality, humans see gold as a commodity for showcasing class thereby making anything golden a scarce commodity that only those with the wherewithal can purchase.
Relating the above to humanity and human interaction, individuals with special characters; especially characters that bring about positive changes and development to the society are few.
In the world today, it is believed that greed, avarice, covetousness reign supreme, however there are some individuals who chose not to toe this path but rather develop a sense of compassion fellow humans. Sans mincing words, this category of people can be safely referred to as the “Golden Fishes” of the society although they are very rare in today’s society.
Going by his track records and current engagements, one of such individuals that falls into the category of the “Golden Fishes” of the society is Chief Babatunde Sunday Aboyade.
A seasoned banker cum politician, BSA rarely showcases his achievements despite having myriads to present to the world; he will rather make positive contributions to the society without fanfare.
Unlike others who dabble into politics to share part of the proverbial “national cake”, BSA has remained a staunch party loyalist and servant since venturing into politics. It is on record that since he joined the Alliance Democracy (AD) in 1998, he has served through various means that has ensured victory for his party as it metamorphosed from AD to the new All Progressives Congress (APC). This has made him to be consistently relevant in the political arena of Alimosho Federal Constituency.
Upon venturing into politics, he has served his party and several political candidates through various ways which include; Chairman, Planning and Strategy Committee for AD during the 1999 General Elections, Agent/AD Party Returning Officer for Alimosho Local Government in the governorship election that ushered in Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Executive governor of Lagos State in 1999, Member, Lagos State ICG Planning and Strategy Committee for the re-election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2003 on the platform Action Congress (AC), Retuning officer for Alimosho Local Government in the 2003 general election on the platform of AC, ACN party returning officer for the election of Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola in Alimosho Local Government.BSA also served as the Coordinator and Campaign Manager for former Deputy Governor, Mrs Adejoke Orelope Adefulire for the re-election of governor Fashola in 2011 on the platform of the ACN, Campaign manager for Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan (Yayi) when he contested for a seat at the Federal House of Representatives during the 2011 general election, Campaign Director for the Senator Adeola (Yayi) during the 2015 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), APC, Lagos West Senatorial District returning officer returning officer for the election of Senator Adeola in 2015, APC party agent for Senator Adeola (Yayi) in the Lagos West Senatorial District Elections in 2019 among others.
A unique and steadfast party member, BSA has remained a unifying factor in Alimosho politics by relating with all party members to increase the popularity of the party. Indeed, he has been the bridge in Alimosho APC by ensuring that the constituency remains a stronghold of the party through numerous engagements with party leaders and consultations to ensure harmony among members. Little wonder he is currently the Chairman of the revered APC Elders’ Forum in Egbe-Idimu LCDA.
In apparent acknowledgement of his unwavering loyalty and commitment to the party, he has been bestowed with two key political appointments which are, Educational Secretary, Alimosho Local Government Education Authority from year 2000 to year 2010 and Member representing Ikeja Division on the Board of Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) from 2016 to 2020. In these positions, he brought his intellectual brilliance to bear and served with gusto.
As a man with undying passion for Education and a heart for impacting lives, BSA facilitated the increment of Primary Schools in the Constituency from 23 to 54 while also introducing the annual “Teachers’ Day” event to celebrate and reward retiring teachers during his tenure as the Education Secretary.
In recognition of numerous contributions to Alimosho Constituency, he has received several awards from the corporate world. Acknowledging his immense developmental strides in the constituency, traditional rulers in the constituency have at different times bestowed upon him symbolic chieftaincy titles.
In 1996, the Onisheri of Isheri, Oba Wahab Ayinde Balogun installed him as the “Atunluse of Isheri Olofin”, in 2002, the Onidimu of Idimu Land, Oba Azeez Adewale Dada Aluko conferred the title of “Otunba Mayegun of Idimuland on him while the Onimeiran of Meiran Kingdom, Oba Samuel Awoyemi Ismaila Oroja, instated him as the “Aare Mayedero of Meiran Kingdom in 2018.
Demonstrating how to use politics to better the lives of the citizens, BSA has used his political appointments to facilitate the employment of Two Thousand (2000) Teaching and Non-Teaching staff during his Ten-year tenure as the Education Secretary for Alimosho Local Government Education Authority and another Two Thousand (2000) Youths as officers into the state security outfit, Lagos Neghbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) while serving as a board member representing Ikeja Division on the board of Lagos Neigbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA).
A core grassroots politician, BSA lives among his people in Alimosho and he is recongnised by all and sundry; anywhere he goes in Alimosho and environs, the residents are quick to shout “Chief, Chief, Atunluse of Africa, Oga kan, omo ise one million, Baba Alaanu” among other cognomens he has garnered in admittance of his stellar contributions to the constituency.
As a chieftain of the ruling party, BSA has continuously ensured that his constituents are in good stead by giving back to his society to make it better place for all.
