A Peoples Democratic Party’s aspirant for Lagos – west senatorial district, Ambassador Yommy Ogungbe Eshinlokun who lost the bid to clinch the party’s ticket on the 22nd of May 2022 has empowered five hundred people across party lines days after he lost the primary election.
The multi – million naira empowerment programme was held at Arch Bishop vining open field, Oba – Akinjobi way Gra ikeja, had in attendance selected people from all the local governments that made up of Lagos – west senatorial district and PDP’s stalwarts.
AlimoshoTv, who was coincidentally present at the event had chats with some of the benefiaries on how they feel about the gesture.
According to Mrs. Olaide Adeshanu ” Infact, I have never seen or met a politician like ‘Ambassador’, it is not because I’m part of his team because we are still very much disturbed about what happened at the primaries which we are still reviewing but here we are with this massive empowerment to the good people of Lagos west. One thing I learned from this is, we politicians should not help only at the times we are seeking people’s votes. This empowerment is the fifth edition, yet, the aftermath of our primaries did not hinder it. I’m happy to be an associate of him.”
On his part,Mr. Olabode Kamoru, ” I am not a member of the PDP but when I received an sms of being a beneficiary, I was surprised empowerment can be extended to a member of the All progressives congress from a PDP member, this remains a mystery to me ,I must say, however, this is good for our democracy because politics should not be seen as a do or die affair.
All the benefiaries were full of joy and appreciative of the kind gesture by Ambassador Ogungbe, especially those who benefitted from his scholarship to study in the Universities.
The gesture shows life is most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others? And overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice.
