The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) unit of the Lagos state police command, has, while, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspected infrastructure vandals in Lagos, shortly after the crime was committed at the Trade Fair overhead bridge, Abule Oshun area of the Badagry expressway.
The suspects namely, Abdulateef AbduRahman, aged 22, ‘m’ and Aliyu Lawan, a minor, aged, 16, both of unspecified addresses, were apprehended about 0300hrs on Friday, 15/7/22, following swift response of the RRS tactical team carrying out routine 24/7 patrol along the corridor as directed by the commander of the unit, CSP Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi.
Reports gathered,reveal that, a gang of vandals perpetrating the crime scampered in different directions on sighting the policemen nearing the scene; luck however, ran out on Abdulateef and Aliyu, who were apprehended, with Abdulateef in possession of a hack saw suspected to have been used in cutting the protective rail guard pipes installed along the sides of the overhead bridge.
The hack saw and cut pieces of the protective pipes tied together, were recovered from the suspects.
Feelers indicate that, one of the suspects, Aliyu Lawan, a minor, might be transferred by the police, to the juvenile delinquency facility of the Lagos state government, situated at Oregun, for reformative routine, while, Abdulateef AbdulRahi, who is of age, will be charged to court, after full fledged investigation, in line with extant laws of Lagos state.
