Chairman of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce), CSP Akerele Adetayo, today led officers and men of the agency in a joint operation with sister formations of the Lagos State Police Command to sack illegal squatters and clear all shanties along the long stretch of Fagba railway corridor bordering Agege and Ifako-ijaiye Local Governments, Lagos State.
The operation was sequence to the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha; a strategic step toward reinforcing general security of life, property and infrastructures along the affected areas and communities, just as it is also meant to enforce environmental sanity and forestall potential hazards associated with unauthorised presence along railway corridors.
The operation recorded a high level of success; all the shanties were completely razed and burned just as hoodlums and all the illegal occupants were sacked out of the corridor and environs.
A number of suspected miscreants were also arrested and the recovery of a camouflage military uniform from one of the destroyed shanties during the operation.
