The Lagos Community Youth Development Initiative (LCYDI) has successfully concluded its 2024 Leadership Retreat for the State Executive Committee. The retreat took place from Friday, August 9th to Sunday, August 11th, 2024, at Elohim Villa, Omole Estate Phase 1, Lagos.

The event saw the attendance of all state executive members and founding members of LCYDI. The retreat’s theme was “From Vision to Action: Operationalizing Strategic Goals for EPIC Change.” The major activities included training sessions, strategic discussions, executive meetings, aerobic exercises, and delegate networking events.

Engr. Adekunle Olayinka, Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, delivered an inspiring session as the Special Guest Speaker. He motivated the new executive members to generate innovative ideas and foster synergy to drive intentional impact across Lagos State’s communities.

Facilitators Mr. Victor Anosike FCA, Mr. Chamberlain Etukudoh, and Barr. Matthew Olaleye led the delegates through comprehensive training on Financial Performance Management, including tools and metrics for tracking financial performance and ensuring organizational accountability. They also covered Resource Mobilization and Growth, and the transition from Vision to Action in Leadership.

Hon. Rotimi Adeleye, former Executive Secretary of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area, presented a session on “Belief-Driven Leadership,” further enriching the delegates’ leadership skills.

The State Chairman of LCYDI, Amb. Dele Moses, also facilitated a session to prepare the delegates for upcoming challenges.

In his welcome address, Comrade Olajide Fashola, Chairman of the Planning Committee, encouraged delegates to approach the retreat with an open mind, emphasizing the importance of unlearning, learning, and relearning through networking and interaction.

The Immediate Past State Chairman, Amb. Akanni Michael, commended the retreat as a positive step for the organization. He urged the new executive to apply their learnings to advance the organization and the EPIC (Empowerment and Membership Growth, Publicity, Innovation, Community Engagement) Agenda.

During the retreat, Hon. Olaibi Emmanuel, Honourable Supervisor for Environment in Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area and a founding member of LCYDI, provided insights into the organization’s vision, mission, and formation. He outlined the expectations for the new executive members.

Founding members Comrade Olamibo Ikuomola and Mrs. Folashade Akinsanya were present, demonstrating exemplary leadership.
