Yesterday, the Kings Sports International, organizer of the Obasa Games 2024, organized press Briefing on the coming Obasa Games 2024.
The Game’s Committee Coordinator, AbdulGaniyu Vinod said this year’s event will be all inclusive, as it will feature boxing, table tennis, scrabble, chess, aside the regular football competition.
At this year’s Edition, the football tournament will feature 32 teams drawn from Lagos West Senatorial District, while the other highlighted sports, will have 64 participants, including male and female.
At the conference held on Friday 25 October, 2024 inside council hall of Agege Local Government secretariat, the Chairman of Kings Sports International, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa, in his opening remarks, highlighted the games, which include, football tournament having 32 teams participating from across Lagos West Senatorial District; Boxing (Fly weight and Feather weight); Table Tennis Opens; Scrabble Opens; and Chess Opens; having 64 participants (male & female categories). All participant s are from across Lagos West.
The Organizing Chairman and the Committee members, made it known to media correspondents present, that this year’s football competitions would take place at 2 designated venues in Agege, namely; Anwarul Islam Model College, Oniwaya road, Agege and Dairy Farm secondary school, all in Agege Local Government areas. The Semi finals and final matches, will be played at Teachers Training College (TTC), Ifako Ijaiye local government area on Saturday, 14 December, 2024.
Other added games events will be histed at Agege Stadium indoor sports hall, from Monday, 4th to Friday, 6th December, 2024.
At the Media Briefing, the Committee announced the prizes to be won as follows:
• N6,000,000 for football
1st – N3,000,000
2nd – N2,000,000
3rd – N1,000,000
• N2,000,000 for Boxing (Male & Female categories)
1st – N500,000 + gift items
2nd – N300,000 + gift items
3rd – N200,000 + gift items
• N2,000,000 for Table Tennis (Male & Female categories)
1st – N500,000 + gift items
2nd – N300,000 + gift items
3rd – N200,000 + gift items
• N1,000,000 for Scrabble Opens.
1st – N500,000 + gift items
2nd – N300,000 + gift items
3rd – N200,000 + gift items
• N1,000,000 for Chess Opens.
1st – N500,000 + gift items
2nd – N300,000 + gift items
3rd – N200,000 + gift items.
Kings Sports International, the sponsor of the Obasa Games 2024, announced prizes worth N12 million to will be awarded to be wonby winners in the different categories of the games.
It should be noted that the Game’s Committee said that the mission of the games is to develop grassroots sports talents, with opportunities for rewarding futures.
