HRH Alh. Dr. Mallam Haruna Mai Yasin katsina, a centenarian and elder statesman of national and international reckoning, is the traditional title chief, famously known as Sarkin Sasa, Sardaunan Yamma.
Available official evidence, showed that, he was appointed and installed as Shugaba (Sarki) of Hausawa in the Sasa community by late Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Alayeluwa Oba Yesufu Oloyede Asanike 1, in the year 1982, having been certified as capable of promoting and enhancing inter-communal peace and harmony and the general well-being, growth and development of the Sasa community by the late Olubadan in-council.
In the course of his stewardship as Sarkin Sasa, HRH Mallam Haruna Mai Yasin katsina, gained nationwide recognition for his unrivalled effort and contribution, in the promotion of unity and peaceful coexistence between and among northern community residents and their hosts across Sasa, Ibadan land, Oyo State and by extension, neighbouring states such that, they were always visiting Sasa’s palace, to seek his intervention in the resolution of knotty issues affecting Arewa communities in the various southern states.
His person and title became a household name across the south and by extension the nation at large, owing to his successful interventions and sacrifices for peace, thus, on the 3rd of December 1994, the federal government, further appointed him to become Sardaunan Yamma, officially making him a bona fide member of the National Association of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs and Chairman of Council of Arewa Chiefs in the seventeen southern states of Nigeria.
His appointment was accordingly gazetted by the federal government, in line with the statutory practices of governance, thus, his new status was officially published in the national journal (Gazette).
HRH Sarkin Sasa, Sardaunan Yamma, through a consensus endorsement by a majority of Arewa traditional chiefs across the seventeen southern states of Nigeria, became the leader and chairman of their association in the year 1996.
It has become necessary to clear the air and set the records straight, following misleading reports of a purported suspension of HRH Sarkin Sasa, Sardaunan Yamma by Sarkin Sabo-Ibadan.
Attention of the office of HRH Sarkin Sasa, Sardaunan Yamma, was recently drawn to a misleading piece of information being bandied in the media space, purporting a suspension of the nationally recognised and revered royalty by Sarkin Sabo-Ibadan, Mallam Aliyu Zungeru, who do not by any vestige, posses the locus standi or represent the constituted authority vested with such native nor execute powers.
This disclaimer is meant to dispel the misinformation and inform the general public of the true situation of the matter and to appropriately address the falsehood with a view to affirm its baselessness.
In summary, the office of Sarkin Sasa, Sardaunan Yamma, wishes to state categorically that, HRH Alh. Dr. Haruna Mai Yasin Katsina, remains resolute in the continued pursuit and actualization of peace and harmony at the level of his immediate Sasa community, Akinyele Local Government , Oyo State, all Southern States and the country at large, a course he has stayed for more than six decades.
By His Current status and recognition across the federation and beyond, it is expected and evident that known and unknown adversaries have become and are envious of his standing which supersedes theirs, making them to resort to cheap blackmail and character assassination and a deliberate attempt to incite violence in the peaceful state and Southern states in general.
Sardaunan Yamma being one of the respectful and law abiding traditional chiefs will do everything humanly possible to cooperate with the Security agencies, traditional institutions in Ibadan Land and the Government of the state to ensure false news media peddlers and their collaborators are brought to book to ensure public order and people’s fundamental rights are preserved
