Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed her sadness and condolences over the devastating fuel tanker explosion that occurred on Saturday, January 18th, at Dikko Junction in Niger State. The tragic incident claimed several lives and left many injured.
In a press statement, the First Lady urged everyone to exercise caution and avoid scenes of accidents, especially those involving vehicles conveying inflammable substances, due to the high risks involved.
She commiserated with the Governor of Niger State, His Excellency Mohammed Umar Bago, the families and loved ones of the departed souls, and the injured. The First Lady prayed for God’s fortitude to bear the painful loss and speedy recovery for the injured.
This incident is the latest in a series of fuel tanker explosions that have occurred in Nigeria in recent months. According to reports, over 265 lives have been lost to tanker explosions across the country in the last five months.
President Bola Tinubu has also reacted to the incident, expressing his deep sorrow and directing the establishment of a high-level committee to investigate the root causes of tanker explosions and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
