The Alimosho Chairman-elect, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has paid a sombre tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 in London.
In a statement made available to the press, “It is from Allah that we come, and surely we shall all return to Him – as it is ordained that all souls shall taste death. The Chairman-elect describes the former Head of State and President as a leader who left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape and an enigma who, against all odds, defeated a sitting president.”
“President Buhari’s commitment to discipline, duty, and nationhood indeed earned him admiration from many Nigerians, despite criticisms surrounding economic challenges and governance lapses during his presidency. His strengths included his anti-corruption stance, infrastructure development, and efforts to improve security.”
“As Nigeria mourns the loss of its former leader, the Alimosho Chairman-elect prays for Buhari’s soul to rest in peace. He acknowledges the significance of Buhari’s contributions to Nigerian history, from his military rule to his democratic presidency. May Allah (SWT) forgive all his shortcomings, grant him Al-jannah Firdaus, and grant his family, associates, the All Progressives Congress, and the Nigerian government the strength to bear the loss, Amen,’ the statement reads.
