The Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, on Monday distributed 600 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to indigent students across the council area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to expanding access to education and empowering young people.

The event, held on March 9, 2026, brought together party leaders, councillors, education stakeholders, community leaders, parents, members of the media and students who gathered to witness the initiative designed to support less privileged students seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman described the programme as a reflection of grassroots governance focused on people-centred development. He noted that the initiative was implemented under his administration’s WISE Agenda, which prioritises education, empowerment and social inclusion.

According to him, no talented child in Alimosho should be denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to financial constraints.“Today’s gesture is more than the distribution of forms; it is an investment in your dreams and in the future of Alimosho. I encourage you to study hard, remain disciplined and make the most of this opportunity,” he told the students.

The Chairman highlighted several initiatives undertaken by his administration to improve the welfare of residents and support educational development. He recalled that on August 28, 2025, the council distributed 600 free GCE forms to students across the local government to support their academic aspirations. He also noted that full scholarship support was provided for two physically challenged individuals, emphasising the administration’s commitment to inclusiveness and equal opportunity.

Beyond education, he outlined several social intervention programmes implemented by his administration. These include the launch of the “Ounje Alimosho” initiative on November 19, 2025, through which food items are sold to residents at a 50 percent discount to ease the burden of rising food costs. In addition, he stated that under the Renewed Hope Cash Support Initiative, 500 residents received ₦100,000 each on November 21, 2025, to support small businesses and improve livelihoods within the community.

To promote entrepreneurship and skills development, the Chairman also facilitated a ₦3 million revolving loan scheme for Adire trainees, helping them grow their businesses and sustain indigenous crafts.

Highlighting infrastructure and institutional developments within the council, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson said the administration has completed the construction of a Customary Court within the council secretariat to strengthen access to justice at the grassroots level.
He further disclosed that a Community Development Committee (CDC) office and a public toilet facility were constructed to enhance community participation and sanitation within the secretariat, while two waste compactors were procured to strengthen environmental management.

He further stated that the council has improved road connectivity through projects such as the interlocking of Bamgbola Street, the construction of BenEsther Street and Sekoni Street, and the installation of speed breakers on Shasha Road to enhance road safety.
He expressed appreciation to traditional rulers, community leaders, party stakeholders and residents of Alimosho for their continued support, which he said has contributed significantly to the success of the administration’s programmes.

In a related development, the Council Manager, Dr. Idowu Banjoko, commended the Executive Chairman for his dedication to developmental projects across the local government. He urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the opportunity by preparing diligently for the examination.“You can be what you want to be if you work hard at it,” Banjoko advised the students.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Balogun Aisha and Idowu Kamal expressed appreciation to the Chairman for the gesture and promised to excel in the forthcoming examination.

Those present at the event alongside the Executive Chairman included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adebisi Francis; the Council Manager, Dr. Idowu Banjoko, who led the management team; the House Leader, Hon. Abdul Rasheed Semiu; and other councillors. Also in attendance were the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Alimosho, Hon. Ibrahim Abiodun, members of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and other stakeholders.
