The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) has charged the leadership of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) to eschew heating up the polity in Lagos state and embrace policies that will galvanise human capital development and wellbeing.
CAIDOV’s reaction came against the backdrop of the Islamic group’s condemnation of the adoption for second term of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu by the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).
Rather, CAIDOV posited that issues bothering on development of Lagos State should be the paramount responsibility of any genuine group.
CAIDOV, in a press release signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, stressed that the condemnation of the move by MURIC smacks of divisiveness, irresponsible politicking and an unbridled attempt to heat up the polity in a peaceful state like Lagos of diverse interests .
The CAIDOV boss disclosed that the adoption of the governor is a confirmation of his articulate leadership and giants strides in his first term.
The group noted that the leadership of the GAC that endorsed him for a second term displayed uncommon commitment to good governance as exhibited by the governor and his passion for service.
Soloki reiterated that adoption of the governor by leaders of his party is a welcome development and a move directed at rewarding performing public office holders.
According to the CAIDOV boss, “we ,at CAIDOV condemn in its entirety, the statement credited to MURIC, signed by one Dr Ishak Akintola.
“We make bold to say that such statement is reckless, illogical, irresponsible and divisive in all intents and purposes. A peaceful Lagos, despite its diversities shouldn’t be troubled by careless statement from any group. Governance of
Let MURIC and those in its helms of affairs realise that Lagos has never been at the level of religious beliefs ,but rather about development, which Governor Sanwoolu has pursued vigorously in his three years of being in the saddle.
“MURIC and its cohorts should desist from embarking on divisive politics and allow good governance to be of utmost priority.
“The governor, from his handling of government business, has shown capacity to deliver and it is obvious that he has been delivering on the mandate given him,,” Soloki said.
CAIDOV however urged the Governor not to be distracted by such uncouth statement from groups like MURIC, but rather concentrate on the job at hand, by delivering on his promises.
