Following a weeklong, sustained enforcement drive to kick-out unnatural hold-up and stabilise traffic flow across different locations in Lagos, men of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce), on Monday, July, 8, 2024, berthed at the Iyana-ipaja end of the busy Lagos-Abeokuta, expressway, as they intensify efforts to deliver on the zero tolerance for traffic irresponsibility, earlier declared by new Chairman of the agency, CSP Akerele Adetayo, on assumption of office in the last week of June, 2024.
The operation was carried out within the space spanning between Iyana-ipaja under bridge and the pedestrian bridge, inward Ilepo; an area that has continued to cause untold hardship upon motorists and commuters plying the corridor, all because commercial transporters have flagrantly converted the place into an illegal park for pick up of passengers.
45 Vehicles in all, were confiscated for violating traffic regulations as contained in the Lagos State Traffic Law 2018 as amended.
Recall that, CSP Akerele, kick-started his zero tolerance for traffic violation campaign, in the popular Oshodi corridor, immediately he took the reigns at Taskforce, where he stated and warned that, the exercise will be sustained and replicated across the state with a view to making Lagos environmentally saner, safer and friendlier for its citizenry.
