A seeming attempt by one time dreaded youth cult gang, that goes by the name AWAWA, to regroup in the last 48 hours, in Agege, has been decidedly foiled by the men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) unit of the Lagos state Police command.

Reports gathered, suggests that, the daredevil AWAWA miscreants have been engaged in an attempted resurgence in the last two days, after over a year of recess and surrender, owing to sustained onslaught against the group by the Lagos police, remarkably, the series of crack and sting operations led by the current RRS commander, CSP Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi, while, at the helms of the Lagos state task force on environment and special Offences as chairman and shortly after he took over the reigns at RRS a year ago.

RRS tactical teams are conspicuously seen manning strategic points, said to have been affected by the failed AWAWA attempts; the operatives are also seen conducting convoy patrols across Agege and environ, as a measure to further quell and curtail the unrest.
Areas said to have witnessed the failed AWAWA sweep, include Alagba, Iyana Ipaja, Mulero, Orile.
Calm and normalcy has since taken root as residents and commuters are seen going about their engagements.
