
Residents of Apapa Iganmu LCDA received a major boost in the community’s fight against flooding and environmental challenges as a heavy-duty swamp buggy arrived on site to commence the clearing of canals across the area. The development was greeted with excitement by many residents who have long sought lasting solutions to blocked waterways and recurring flood incidents.
The Executive Chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, in line with his administration’s commitment to ensuring a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment for residents, stated that the initiative is expected to improve the free flow of water through major drainage channels and reduce the impact of flooding within the council area.
Speaking on the intervention, community stakeholders described the project as a practical demonstration of the chairman’s dedication to fulfilling his promises to the people. They noted that the commencement of canal clearance works reflects the administration’s proactive approach to environmental management and public welfare.
The council also urged residents to continue supporting government efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property. While acknowledging that flooding remains a global challenge exacerbated by intense rainfall being experienced across the country, the administration reassured the public that it will continue to implement measures designed to mitigate its effects and improve the overall well-being of the people.
