Yoruba self determination groups, under the banner of Coalition of Oodua Self determination Groups (COSEG) on Monday applauded Governors of the southern part of Nigeria for the successful outcome of their meeting in Lagos , especially the decision to have the permanent Secretariat of the forum in Lagos State.

This was made known on Monday by the group in a press statement issued in Ikeja, Lagos State on Monday , signed by Comrade Dayo Ogunlana, the group’s chairman Coordinating council commended the Governors of the Southern State of Nigeria for issuing a robust and exciting communique touching on foundamental issues affecting the southern part of the country and Nigeria itself vis a vis the selective, unlawful raid and arrest,State policing etc.

According to the group said ” we are happy with the resolutions of the Governors of the southern parts of Nigeria who are showing they are abreast of the various recent developments as regards illegal raids, arrest and reckless destruction of citizens property. The selective arrest of our people in the southern part of Nigeria for demanding justice and rejecting the criminal Fulani turture and disorderliness vis a vis destruction of our people’s property, kidnapping, raping etc. We are indeed happy that the communique has indirectly condemned the selective justice of the security operatives, illegal operations and recklessness.By this, they have thereby stand for their people and this meets our expectations”

COSEG thereby call on the southern Governors to work earnestly for the release of all southern leaders and activists detained and also appeal that they should move for the removal of the wanted tag on Sunday Igboho.

The group said ” we call on all the Governors in the south to expressly ensure the release of all self-determination activists arrested as a result of their defence of their people, right to protest and their expression of their foundamental human rights occasioned by incessant destruction of their people’s properties by the criminal Hausa fulani and everyone arrested at Sunday Igboho’s house while also ensuring that the wanted tag inscribed on Chief Sunday Igboho is immediately released with no condition attached. We want to state that the security forces who were on several illegal missions of recent are overheating the polity and this is a dangerous trend”.

The group while commending the southern Governors for establishing thier Secretariat in Lagos also commended the Governor of Lagos for showing to the world the central role Lagos can play in the development of the polity.

COSEG said” we expressly commend all the southern Governors for locating thietr Secretariat in Lagos while also commending the Lagos State Governor for accepting this, as a call to serving the southern people better putting in mind the central role Lagos always play in stabilising the polity and a state always seen as the prime mover of all sectors and genuine ideas in Nigeria not forgetting it’s pacessetter role in anything it does
We therefore congratulate the Governor of Lagos State for this sustaining and advancing the critical momentum of Lagos.”

Finally, the group also commended the Lagos State House of Assembly for the passage of the bill stopping open parade of suspects.

COSEG said” we support and applaud the passage of the bill for the stoppage of open parade of suspects by the Lagos State House of Assembly. This show of reckless use of power by the police must stop. We call on other south western state houses of assemblies to take a cue from Lagos. Such parade is illegal and against the fundamental rights of the citizens who might have been arrested illegally.
