Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, alongside members of the Lagos State Executive Council, joined the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on a recent working visit to San Francisco, California, and New York, United States of America.
The visit was aimed, among other objectives, at formalising a Sister-State partnership between Lagos and California through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The partnership is designed to foster collaboration in tourism and the creative industry, multi-modal transportation, and information technology, while creating opportunities for deeper cooperation, knowledge exchange and stronger economic ties.
The Lagos delegation also visited New York to engage with global investors and strategic partners on opportunities within the state’s tourism, arts, culture and creative economy sectors.
During the tour, the delegation observed the growing international recognition and support for artistes from Lagos, including Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Asake and Fireboy DML, alongside other globally recognised Nigerian creative brands.
The development underscores Lagos’ significant contribution to the global entertainment industry and the worldwide growth of Afrobeats.
