… Residents commend RRS yeoman’s response.

A skirmish that could have snowballed into a widespread inter-tribal unrest at Olusanya area of Agege metropolis, was effectively repressed by the Lagos state Rapid Response Squad (RRS), joined by sister formations under the area G command of the Lagos state police command yesterday Sunday.
Reports gathered, indicate that, the unrest was triggered by an encounter between a volunteer night guard and a resident of mosalasi Alaja area, who alleged, he was manhandled and harmed during interception and interrogation by the guard and others, while, he was returning home late in the night on Friday.
A further dip into the incident reveal that, kinsmen of the affected resident learned of the encounter and mobilized in readiness to escalate matters but for the timely response of the RRS operatives, who were later joined by their colleagues from other units, to immediately nip the crisis in the bud.
An investigative tour round Olusanya and adjoining streets affected by the unrest, confirms, calm and normalcy has fully returned to the areas as residents trooped out to applaud the swift intervention of the security agents.
A cross section of residents interviewed, who interestingly are Hausas and Yorubas, roundly condemned the actions of the perpetrators, averring that, for decades, they have coexisted in peace and what happened was the making of bad eggs amongst both tribes; they further assured to galvanize support against a recurrence.
A common denominator on the lips of resident responders who spoke in mother tongues of Yoruba and Hausa, was the barrage of commendations for the RRS men especially the commander, CSP Egbeyemi, who they said, was always quick to respond to distress calls regardless of short notice.
Checks round areas affected currently shows detachments of RRS men all around, monitoring human conducts, presumably to sustain the normalcy and prevent any likely relapse.
