As the 2023 general elections in Nigeria closes in to less than six weeks from now, alliances and re-alliances amongst key stakeholders of our societies including the royalties are being strengthened across in readiness to execute the forthcoming elections successfully.
Such was the case on Sunday, the 15th of January, 2023, when the Oba of Shasha Kingdom, HRM Oba Babatunde Nosiru Ogunronbi, (Akinlowo1), received in his magnificent palace, the assembly of Serikis under the aegis of the chieftaincy council of Arewa community, Alimosho, Lagos State.
The visitors were led into the important meeting by the Sarki overall of Alimosho, who doubles as the chairman of the council of Serikis in the entire Alimosho local government area, HRH Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Kuraja; other Serikis on the visitors train, include Serikis of Shasha, Isheri Olofin, Akesan, Iyana Ipaja, Abaranje, Ayobo, Aboru-Oki, Ijegun, Igando-Egan, Idimu, Ikola, Baruwa, Mosan, Egbe-Agodo, the secretary general and other titled chiefs of the council.
The meeting was formally declared open with an opening prayer, administered by HRH Mallam Iliyasu Isah Kira, the Seriki Hausawa of Shasha Kingdom, after which HRM Oba Babatunde Ogunronbi, began his address with glorifications for God and thereafter, commended the visitors for their large turnout to the all important parley.
Continuing, Oba Ogunronbi, stated that, the need for a strengthened collaboration towards enhancement of inter-tribal peace and matters of the fast approaching general polls, occasioned his call on the body of Serikis to the meeting, to iron out appropriate plans and strategies to ensure peace and security were reinforced just as it was equally important for both bodies to unite and support the APC with bloc votes for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu during February and March, 2023 elections.
Concluding, the Kabiyesi urged the body of Serikis to sensitize and encourage members of the Arewa communities in their individual communities to go out and pick up their uncollected voter cards in order to cast their votes for the APC.
Responding and speaking on behalf of the chieftaincy council of Arewa community Alimosho, the Sarki overall, commended the Oba of Shasha for modelling uncommonly detribalized and inclusive stewardship; assuring him that, the message of the day’s deliberations will be effectively delivered and monitored for the desired result, going forward.
We are progressive Serikis and proud partners of the government, thus, we shall go the extra mile in doing all that is legitimately right to support the APC to a landslide victory, assured the Sarki overall of Alimosho as he concluded his remark.
The meeting was brought to a close with the closing prayer administered by HRH Mallam Ado Baje, the Seriki Hausawa of Egbe-Agodo land, Alimosho LGA
