Ipaja community and environ in the great Alimosho local government area of Lagos state, was on Saturday, January, 21st 2023, turned into a Mecca of sort as royalties, guests and dignitaries from across Nigeria flocked to witness the 6th anniversary celebration of HRH Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Kuraja, the Sarki overall and chairman, assembly of Serikis under the aegis of the chieftaincy council of Arewa community, Alimosho Lagos state.
The event which was rolled into a tripod of anniversary celebration, turbaning of new titleholders and merit awards presentation, had high profile Nigerians from sister regions and diverse professional callings, variously turbaned and awarded respectively.
The array of top brass citizens decorated and turbaned at the magnificent palace of the Sarki overall of Alimosho, include, a serving magistrate in the Nigerian judiciary, Abuja judicial sivision, Abubakar Sa’idu Umar, who was turbanned as the Makaman Alimosho, Prince Hadi Sani Muhammad, the Special Assistant on Inter-Ethnic Affairs to the Governor of Ogun State, H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun, was turbanned as Turakin Alimosho, MD/CEO, Ollysee Group of Companies, Mr. Daniel Ikeri, an Igbo native, was turbanned as Jindadin Alimosho, Alhaji Abba Abdullahi, who came all the way from Kano, was turbanned as Madawakin Alimosho, National Director, Strategy and Planning of the PCC Youth Support Campaign Team, Hon. Olawale Matthew Cole, a Yoruba man, was turbanned as Barden Alimosho, amongst others.
Similarly, prominent public and private sector players, amongst whom, were, the speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Chief Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, the Chief of Staff to H.E Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State, Ag. Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission, Otunba Richard Akin Oshungboye, the Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State, CSP Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi, his colleague in the Police Force, CSP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, the DPO, Alagola divisional headquarters, Ipaja, Hon. Jelil Sulaiman, the Executive Chairman, Alimosho LGA and the immediate past Executive Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA and Asiwaju Musulumi Alimosho Federal Constituency, Hon. Yusuf Sakiru Adisa amongst many others, picked individual merit awards consequent upon their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of their respective callings and humanity in general.
Top dignitaries and royal symbols who graced the historic event, include, the Hon. Commissioner, Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Lagos State, Arc. Ahmed Kabiru Abdullahi, who represented the Lagos State Governor, host Chairperson of the occasion, Hon. Bola Shobowale, the Executive Chairman, Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, host royal father of the day, the Olu of Ipaja, HRM Oba Kolawole, Ajani Egundupe (Ilufemiloye 1), chief royal father of the day, HRM Oba Babatunde Nosiru Ogunronbi Lawal (Akinlowo 1), the Onishasha of Shasha Kingdom, the Baales of Ikola Ilumo and Oki lands, high chiefs Habib Aiyetobi Ilumo and Adedayo badeyemo Oki, to mention but a few.
Furthermore, over thirty Serikis from across Lagos state and beyond, joined the over eighteen member serikis of the chieftaincy council of Arewa community Alimosho local government, who were all in attendance to relish the eventful day; numerous other northern traditional signatures from outside Lagos, including, HH Alhaji Aminu Mai Shinkafa, the Sarkin Tafarkin Yamma and HH, the newly conferred Sardaunan Matasan Arewa Jihohin Yamma, Amb. Sani Salisu Danmuttaqa of the foremost Sasa Ibadan emirate, were also present.
It was indeed a full day of color and beau as numerous northern traditional performances including, Algaita tunes (native flute), Busar Kaho (perforated horn tunes) and Barkwanci (Hausa comedy), Nakiya da Garma (Dexterous display of crude farming tools), amongst many other, were on show for the entertainment of the teeming guests and onlookers.
The celebrant, HRH Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Kuraja, was all glow throughout the day as he was flamboyantly decked in his royal garb to the marvel and admiration of all present.
Aside the fact that, the colorfulness of the Northern tradition was further enriched and accentuated at the occasion, one key ingredient worthy of mention and emulation by all and sundry, was the extra ordinary element of unity and oneness as was encapsulated in the cross tribal coronation of chiefs in the chieftaincy council of Arewa community Alimosho, which was hitherto uncommon.
The unambiguous message from the whole event, remains, unity in diversity, is a sure tool to further progress and development only if we could adopt the Sarki overall of Alimosho style across.
