Honorable Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, the Lagos State Commissioner of Wealth Creation and Employment, is rolling out another set of empowerment programs for graduates and creating employment opportunities for Lagos State residents.
Through his unwavering dedication, Hon Akinyemi Ajigbotafe has implemented platforms and frameworks to effectively tackle the pressing issues of unemployment and underemployment in Lagos State, demonstrating his fervent commitment to youth employment, empowerment, and development.
The Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, under the guidance of the Honorable Commissioner, has implemented the ‘Graduate Internships Placement Program’ (GIPP). This program is designed to equip young graduates with the skills and experiences essential for success in the current competitive job market. To be eligible for the program, individuals must have 0-3 years of work experience, possess the LASSRA number, and hold a Post NYSC certificate.
Honourable Akinyemi explained that the Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP) during the official press conference at the ministry boardroom is rebranded in the ‘EMPOWER LAGOS’ Initiative targeted at uplifting the lives of 10,000 Lagosians from poverty.
The Honorable Commissioner disclosed that, over three weeks, selected graduates will undergo rigorous training in employability skills, understanding, and making good career choices while equipping the graduates with the tools needed to succeed in the modern workplace.
Hon Akinyemi emphasized the program’s advantages, including intensive employability skills training, three-month graduate placement with partnering organizations, and stipend support.
The Honorable Commissioner accentuated that the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment has allocated resources to train and provide equipment to 5,000 artisans. This initiative aims to create sustainable wealth, generate job opportunities, and foster the growth and prosperity of the state.
He further highlighted his commitment to supporting Small and Medium Enterprises, by providing start-up capital for them.
He reiterated that youth in Blighted Areas would also be trained and supported with funding in a bid to improve their living standards.
The Honorable Commissioner has pledged unwavering support for the youth of Lagos State. This entails the provision of POS Machines and the allocation of seed funding to 1,425 youths to aid in the establishment of micro-enterprises.
Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe expressed his determination to create an environment where sustainable wealth and job opportunities can be created while contributing to the overall prosperity of the state.
The Honorable Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Governor of Lagos State for swiftly approving the project, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to the well-being of Lagosians and his tireless efforts to combat poverty and unemployment. Emphasizing the significance of collaboration for success, the Governor also urged citizens to actively participate in and support these initiatives. This was decisively conveyed by the honorable Commissioner during the media briefing. The commissioner is deeply committed to working together with other government parastatal agencies and nongovernmental organizations to effectively generate sustainable wealth and create employment opportunities for the residents of Lagos State.
