Lagos, May 4,2026(NAN) Stakeholders across Alimosho Federal Constituency have adopted consensus candidates for the forthcoming legislative elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the consensus arrangement was reached with the backing of influential party figures, including Mrs Joke Orelope-Adefulire (OFR) and Mr Bisi Yusuf, alongside other prominent leaders.

Orelope-Adefulire in her remarks said that the development was a move seen as a strategic consolidation of party unity ahead of the general polls.

According to her, the decision signals a coordinated effort by key political actors in the constituency to present a united front and strengthen electoral prospects across all levels within Alimosho.

“At the federal level, Mr Ganiyu Adele-Ayuba, has been endorsed as the consensus candidate for the House of Representatives.

“His adoption follows extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders, reflecting confidence in his capacity to represent the constituency effectively at the National Assembly.

“For the Lagos State House of Assembly, Luqman Olatunji Orelope has been adopted as the consensus candidate for Alimosho Constituency I, while Kehinde Joseph will fly the party’s flag in Alimosho Constituency II,” she said.

The Alimosho party leader said that both candidates were regarded as experienced grassroots mobilisers with established political structures within their respective constituencies.

Yusuf the Former Lawmaker Representing Alimosho Constituency II, in his remarks said that their involvement in the consensus underscored the high-level coordination and endorsement that characterised the selection process.

According to him, the adoption meeting recorded a strong turnout, drawing participation from all six Local Government Chairmen within the federal constituency.

“In addition, the full complement of 36 councillors was present, alongside a large number of party faithful and grassroots mobilisers, highlighting the broad-based support for the consensus decision,” he said.

The former lawmaker added that the inclusive nature of the process bringing together leadership across multiple tiers of government helped to eliminate potential internal divisions, fostering cohesion within the party structure.

“This unity is expected to translate into a more coordinated campaign and improved voter mobilisation efforts, and to ensure re-election of President Bola Tinubu for second term.

He said that ultimately, the unanimous adoption of candidates reflected a shared commitment among stakeholders to continuity, effective representation, and sustained development across Alimosho Federal Constituency.

“As the election season approaches, the constituency now presents a consolidated political front, positioning itself as a formidable force in the coming to 2027 general elections,” he added.(NAN)
